The Moray Monster Mountain Bike Trails in Moray, Scotland, have seen a significant change. Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) have removed the North Shore features from the Fochabers Freeride area at the Whiteash trailhead. According to Moray Mountain Bike Club, the FLS felt these features had reached the end of their usable life and were taken out on safety grounds.

It’s a loss for riders who enjoyed the more technical lines that made Fochabers Freeride a distinct part of the wider trail network. The Freeride zone was part of the Whiteash base, one of three trail areas that make up the Moray Monster network alongside Ordiequish and Ben Aigan. Across the three sites, there’s around 30km of MTB trail, ranging from family-friendly greens and flowing blues to red, black and orange-graded challenges.
Moray Mountain Bike Club are continuing to work with FLS to maintain and improve trails across the area, and they’ve welcomed offers of help. Trail maintenance days are regularly scheduled, and riders interested in supporting are encouraged to get involved.
