A new business incubator programme called First Tracks is set to launch in January 2025, focusing on supporting entrepreneurs in the cycling and outdoor recreation industries. This 8-week programme, co-hosted by South Of Scotland Enterprise (SOSE) and Edinburgh Napier University (ENU), aims to provide participants with the skills and resources needed to develop innovative products and services.

Programme Overview
First Tracks is designed for entrepreneurs at various stages, from those with new ideas to established businesses looking to diversify. The programme offers:
- Weekly 1-2-1 coaching sessions
- Group workshops and networking opportunities
- Industry-specific sessions led by professionals
- Guidance on funding and investment
A key feature of First Tracks is its combination of general business support and industry-specific expertise. As stated in the press release: "It delivers a programme of core business support from fantastic business coach professionals but also offers a unique selection of sessions that deliver a wealth of cycling and other relevant industry expertise that is not available elsewhere."
Eligibility and Application
The programme is open to applicants from across the UK, although preference may be given to those in Scotland if oversubscribed. Participants must be able to travel to Glentress for some sessions. Applications are accepted from November 8th to December 31st, 2024.
Programme Structure
First Tracks runs for 8 weeks starting January 20, 2025. It includes:
- Online 1-2-1 coaching sessions
- A network and focus group session at Glentress Peel
- Online and hybrid specialist sessions covering topics such as:
- Sector-specific marketing
- Cycling sector regulations
- Market data analysis
- Sustainability in the outdoor industry
Additional Support
The programme offers post-programme support from enterprise advisors and access to ongoing support networks. Eligible participants from under-represented groups in the South of Scotland may receive a £1,000 grant.

First Tracks is free for participants, funded by the partnering organizations.
