End of an era for Brockham Trails as licence is terminated

Brockham Trails, an iconic dirt jump spot near Dorking in Surrey, will close permanently in November 2026 after its site licence is terminated at the end of this summer.

The news was shared by the trail crew on Instagram this week. The land agent has confirmed that a significant number of trees in the plantation have been affected by fungal disease, requiring the site to be clear-felled. To allow that work to take place, all equipment must be removed and the ground levelled. Once complete, the licence will not be renewed.

The crew say the decision is final. The land agent is not open to discussion, and there is no route to saving the trails, the woodland, or the ecosystem the community has built around the site over more than two decades.

Brockham has been running since at least 2003, built and maintained entirely by volunteers. It is a spot on private land, known for its well-kept dirt jumps, a welcoming community, and an annual jam that has become a fixture in the Surrey MTB calendar.

Sessions continue to run through the summer. The trail crew are encouraging riders to come down, get involved with maintenance, and make the most of what remains. For anyone who has ridden there over the years, now is the time to go back.

You can find the Brockham Trails listing on iBikeRide here.

Should a trail spot that has been running for 23 years have more protection from decisions like this?
