Dyfi Bike Park has opened the first phase of a long-term plan to expand access to the upper mountain, with new trails aimed at eMTB riders.

The project, called Unlocking Dyfi, opens on Saturday 8 August 2026. The new trails sit above the existing uplift road, an area Dan Atherton has been scouting for several years. Riders use the uplift to gain most of the elevation, then continue under pedal and motor power to the summit before dropping back into the existing bike park for a full top-to-bottom lap.
Dyfi describes phase one as offering a different style of riding to the rest of the park, blending natural singletrack, hand-built turns and open mountainside terrain before reconnecting with the trails riders already know lower down.
Future phases are planned to add purpose-built climbing trails, allowing riders to link sections of the mountain under their own power rather than returning to the uplift after every descent.
To mark the opening, Dyfi is hosting a Dyfi Apres evening on 8 August, with a barbecue, live music and riding chat after the lifts stop. Atherton Bikes will have its new S.170E eMTB available to demo on the day.
The move follows a wider trend across UK bike parks and trail centres exploring dedicated eMTB infrastructure. BikePark Wales confirmed plans in 2024 for eMTB-focused climbing routes as part of a wider 33-year lease and expansion, and Tarland Trails has introduced a climb aimed at eMTB riders.
