SLOW MBO - Beenham

Our 5th and final event of the SLOW Mountain Bike Orienteer's 2024 Series. Prizes for this year's series will be presented at the next event on 17th November.

The event is based at Beenham Pre-School with a course that incorporates the extensive network of trails around Bucklebury Common and the River Pang Valley. Whilst the trails are generally in very good condition and are riding well, the sheer number of trails available offers many different route options. So route choice, and accurate navigation, will be key. As with our event last year, we aim to offer a good selection of checkpoints within close proximity of the event base, so riders of all abilities should get a decent trawl of points and a satisfying ride.

You’ll be given a marked up OS A3 waterproof map and have 2 or 3 hours to visit as many checkpoints as possible. You can enter as a solo, pair or family team.

To participate you will need the MapRun App on your Android or iPhone, or a Garmin Watch with the MapRunG App, or any GPS watch. A link to download the course to your phone will be sent shortly before the event. The PIN code will be given at the start. It's important not to enter the PIN code until you are ready to go as your time will start as soon as you do so.

If you're new to orienteering and don't have a map board you'll be given a basic one to attach to your bike.
