Glentress Trailfairies Volunteer Trailbuilding Session

IMG_4285

Who: all welcome, no previous trailbuilding experience needed. U12's need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian. U'18's will need to bring their parent/guardian to the meet up to sign the sign on sheet.

What to bring: suitable clothes for trailwork outside (including waterproofs), sturdy boots, own trail snacks/drinks

We provide: tools, gloves, hi vis, safety glasses, session supervision/guidance/training.

Meet up: 0900 at the car park next to the Gateway building at Glentress. The Gateway building has toilets/changing/showers.

Directions: turn into Glentress off A72. Once past the barrier head straight on and after ~150m and bear right over the concrete bridge (now single lane for vehicles), following the blue badge holders parking signs, head briefly up the hill then right again just before the Gateway building into the car park.

Getting to the worksite: from the meet up we'll drive steadily up into the forest (on good quality forest roads) and park at near the start of Twitcher (or start of Harrys Blue and walk in). Carsharing where possible.

Trail closure required? Yes, to help ensure volunteer and rider safety Twitcher will be closed from 0915 - 1245 whilst we work on the trail.

Tasks on the trails:

clearing loose stones/rocks/gravel off the trail and trail edges, especially on the insides of turns - to give more room to move around on trail

reshaping/resurfacing braking bump sections (weather conditions allowing)

Cake break: 1100 ish!

Finishing up: we'll finish up on the trail at ~1230, back down to the Gateway building for 1300.

Parking and the exit barrier: we'll give you a code at the meet up giving you free parking for the full day (the least we can do!). Just before leaving Glentress find the nearest paystation and input your vehicle registration and the code. The barrier will then lift automatically on exiting.
