FNY 5th Birthday Ride Out and Afternoon Tea - The Golfie, Innerleithen

The FNY Collective is 5 this year and is taking it back to where it all started: a ride at the Golfie followed by an afternoon tea, on Sunday 29 November. The Collective was born from Aneela putting on rides in this format, so whether you are new, a regular or one of the OG FNYs who has been AWOL, they would love to see you there.

The ride. Three options, beginner, intermediate and advanced, so there is something for everyone. Beginner and intermediate will be mostly on forest road, with some options for the intermediate riders: approximately 11km and 300m of climbing, for approx 2 to 2.5 hours. Advanced will take in some Golfie classics, New York, Big Baw and more depending on pace: approx 2.5 hours, 600m+ of climbing and 20km. This is not a "push yourself" ride, so only pick the advanced option if you have ridden steep technical terrain before. You choose your ride level at checkout.

Pace for all options will be social, and no FNY will be left behind. E-bikes are welcome, but wrap up warm. It is a fully guided ride, so spaces are limited.

Afternoon tea. The groups aim to be at the Caberston Cafe, which has been reserved for them, at around 12 noon. Hot drink, soup, sandwiches and cake are included. Everyone will be back in Innerleithen no later than 2pm.

What you need. A mountain bike in good working order (please check it before the start), water, a snack, a helmet and any other protective clothing, and clothing for the weather. Aim to be self-sufficient with an inner tube, tools and so on.

Information. Meet ready to ride at 9.30am at the Memorial Hall car park, 11 Leithen Road, Innerleithen. Car parking is free in the Leithen Road car park or near the hall. Tickets cost £16, which includes a full complement of guides, food and a hot drink. Book on The FNY Collective events page.
