Cairngorm Trail Series – A Mountain Bike Day Out for All Ages

The Cairngorm Trail Series returns to Cairngorm Mountain on 27 June 2026, building on its 2025 debut as a full day mountain bike event bringing together racing, freeride sessions and family riding in a single hill-based format.

Following its first edition, the event is now established as an annual “Trail Series” day, combining timed downhill racing, skills-focused sessions and informal riding across the lower and mid mountain trails.

King & Queen of the Hill (Timed Downhill Racing)

The main competitive element of the day is the timed downhill format, where riders complete runs to determine overall fastest times on the course.

Prizes are awarded across multiple categories:

* Adult (16+) open and female

* Under 16 open and female

* Under 12 open and female

All participants are included in the overall classification, with results based on timed runs down the course.

Jump Jam Session

After the racing, attention shifts to the jump and hip line for an open jam session.

This section of the event focuses on style and progression rather than timing, with riders using the features in a freeride format. The setup is positioned for spectator viewing from the lower Cas walking route.

Future Riders (Kids Event)

A free-to-enter kids race runs on the green trail using the magic carpet uplift.

Designed for younger riders up to 8 years old, the format prioritises participation and confidence building. Parents can ride alongside younger riders during the course if required. Registration is available on the day.

The wider event includes:

* Free spectator entry

* On-site uplift access via magic carpets for selected sessions

The format is designed as a full mountain day rather than a single race window, with riding, spectating and social time built into the schedule.

* Adult (16+): £30

* Junior (Under 16): £15

* Kids race: Free entry (on the day registration)

Entry includes access to the timed racing and event activities.​

The event takes place at Cairngorm Mountain, with trail access and uplift operating from the main mountain centre. Event timings are expected to be confirmed closer to the date.
