Description

Tilgate Forest MTB trails are in Crawley, West Sussex, south of Croydon, and north of Brighton.

A mix of natural (maintained) non-waymarked trails of green, blue, red, and black grades exists. There is parking but facilities are limited so come prepared. 

Tilgate Forest MTB

  • The forest is small and the trail network compact. There is a good combination of blues, reds, and some blacks, greens. 
  • The trails are maintained by a local group and they are not waymarked.
  • Tilgate forest is part of the UK cycle network so it is suitable to ride mountain bikes there (no building)
  • There is a decent selection of downhill/freeride stuff also.

Good trails

Good locally maintained trails,exploring is best, but plenty to have fun with. Circular routes can be found quite easily and would be tricky to get lost with the M23 crossing points as a reference point. Parking available at Tilgate Park itself with toilets at the car park and a cafe at the Walled Garden. Better in the summer but rideable in the wet.

Well what can I say about tilgate has a variety of trails old to new and currently a lot of building going on and it’s only going to get better I spend hours up here for what we all love best !!

Got a mixture of everything it's no polished bike park or trail centre but for my local this is my got to place no matter what !! 

What do you like?

The community of riders and builders which are trying to change tilgate for the best and trying to make something happen (legitimate) trails !! 

What could be improved?

Not legitimate !! which is tilgates bad point as there are only a handful of builders that maintain trails and trying to refurb what's there !
