Brilliant trail!

Absolutely perfect for me - an overweight 59 year old who only occasionally rides off road

What do you like?

Mostly flat or downhill. Except one short section you never feel as though you are going up hill. Stunning forest trail & peaceful even on a busy day

What could be improved?

Very busy round the car park. Car parking quite expensive but I guess that's how they fund the trail.

Would you recommend?

yes

Inconsiderate dog walkers.

Signs up on the trails these pests.

What do you like?

The wildlife, trails, shop, trail centre facilities.

What could be improved?

Inconsiderate dog walkers with dogs running about on trails and pump tracks. Before you say I don’t like dogs I have two of my own and I love them to bits but I would not let them run wild and off the leash especially as the forestry department have purpose built trails. Cyclists stopping in the middle of trails instead of pulling to one side would be a great help.

Would you recommend?

*Yes*

Family trail

I’ve cream parlour don’t take card payments.

What do you like?

Great for kids starting out, nice forest. I see a lot of people moan about the parking prices. But ask yourself this, where else are you going to have a day out for less that what it costs to park? If you go to the cinema as a family your looking at £70+ to sit in for an hour and a half stuffing your face with a £10 pick n mix. So for me £10 parking for a family day out in the forest is very reasonable

What could be improved?

Red trail is very deceiving, compare it to trails up and down the country you would grad it Blue, Swinley Blue is more challenging than Thetfords red. It’s ok for a poodle around. A lot of pedestrians on the trails, that’s fine you get that sometimes. But here more than anywhere else. Some sections have not been thought out very well, it’s poorly signed. For a family this is a decent trail for introducing kids, I went with my nephews who usually just ride scooters and they found these trails easy and enjoyed them. So thumbs up for that. But if you want something with a bit more about it, travel further afield. If your used to riding proper red and black trails, and expect to ride a red at Thetford you will be dispointed

Cycle trails

I have seen parties of schoolchildren riding the trails not sure what they think so would not recommend or encourage this at the moment. Sorry.

What could be improved?

If intending to ride Limeburner or beater trails carry a machete or other sharp implement as parts are impassable due to overgrown nettles and ferns and have only been cut where vehicle access is possible.

Would you recommend?

*No*

Lovely day out

Definitely plan to come back here.

What do you like?

Great place to train yourself up if you're not sure of your skills or you want to ride with someone who isn't. Family friendly, beautiful environment. I have put a relatively high grin factor because the trails are well maintained and the surroundings are so pleasant, not for reasons linked to gravity (although there are some fun bombholes that were apparently actually made by bombs :).

What could be improved?

Parking costs way too much. The trail grades are really overstated, to my mind. But I guess they have to cover themselves.

Would you recommend?

*Yes*
