Keep Surrey Hills for the Masses Pls

Surrey Hills is my staple, especially around Peaslake and Pitch Hill. There is a myriad of seemingly never-ending trails to explore, covering all skill levels. Tech, flow, drops and jumps are all there, accessible from multiple car parks. You just need to explore or hook up with folk who know it.

This year is different from last year’s review. Around the trails leading into the Walking Bottom car park they have become jump-laden, and some are quite gnarly. They started off brilliantly with reasonably sized jumps interspersed, but in my opinion they have gone a bit out of control in terms of dominating the main line and a number being really only for a small number of folk with the skills. I’d have these on the trails further out, as they have disturbed the more natural feel these trails had and may be off-putting to those discovering Surrey Hills for the first time, given how close they are to the car park. It will soon be renamed Surrey Hills Bike Park, but without the uplift.

What do you like?

  • Every trail on offer you could want going on for miles if you are up for discovery
  • Peaslake village store and the awesome Riders Hub bike shop

What could be improved?

  • Keep the trails closest to the Walking bottom car park inclusive not for the 1%

Would you recommend?

yes
