Description

Sherwood Pines Mountain Bike Trails are in Sherwood Pines Forest Park in Nottinghamshire. They have red, blue, and green graded MTB trails, a Downhill and Dirt Jump area and as a skills area.

Sherwood Pines also has miles of natural singletrack on offer.

Maid Marion Family Cycle Route (Green)

  • The Family Cycle route covers a 6.4km loop that starts at the Visitors Centre and loops through the forest on the extensive all-weather network. There are also "opt-in" sections of the intermediate blue trail where you can test your skills along the way.

Pedal and Play

  • A beginner-friendly Pedal and Play area at Sherwood Pines by Forestry England and Bike Track, designed to help young riders and families gain confidence before progressing to the main MTB trails. The site features three interconnected loops with learner lines, rollers and berms, supported by Defra funding and following successful builds at Cannock Chase, Hicks Lodge and High Lodge.

Robin Hood Adventure Cycle Trail (Blue)

  • The Adventure Cycle Trail is 11.2km. It is moderately graded at Blue. It is suitable for intermediate riders and is constructed from an all-weather limestone surface, which is rideable year-round.

The Outlaw Trail (Red)

  • The 13km Outlaw Trail is graded Red. It is quite flat, has berms and rollers, and flows with a mix of rocks and roots.

Skills Loop - Blue

  • Found near the visitor centre, this is a short loop of single track with a variety of technical trail features. Suitable for all ages and skill levels. Also used as a warm-up before heading out on the trails.

Bike Park (Orange)

    • The Downhill and Dirt Jump areas are two distinct zones.
    • The downhill zone starts from the wooden start tower, with four interlink runs each finishing at the Robin Hood Trail Climb from post 8. There is a series of rock drops and jumps in each run..
    • The Dirt Jump zone has a series of graded Freeride dirt jumps and a warm-up linear pump track. There are progressive lines of tabletops for the beginner to the advanced.

Off-Piste

  • Like most official riding spots, there is an unsanctioned, non-way-marked, off-piste trail scene. Some of the popular unofficial tracks are off the red/ blue tracks. Examples are Dragons Back, The Fish Bowl, Singletrack Heaven and Rollercoaster. Look out for the bomb holes or head down route 6, where there are plenty of long singletrack sections which veer off.

Sweet stop off on way to North

As mentioned fun if you mix it up with the Downhill and Bike park as well as the XC but for XC on it's own is great mainly for beginners and novices.

What do you like?

- Bike Park - Downhill section - Facilities

What could be improved?

- Bit flat for the XC red trail

Would you recommend?

*Yes*
