Green - Multi-User
- A multi-user green trail – an easy, dual-direction cycle route across the site, connecting Houghton Hill to the underpass for the A45. This offers families and beginner riders a looping green trail. There is a single Green grade climb (Poo Hanger), which is longer in length due to its mellower gradient but then descends back down to the multi-user trail offering an authentic introduction to mountain biking.
Green and Blue
- These trails are named Uncle Fester, PDQ, Double Bogey, Raise the Tone & Blue Nunn. They offer riders progression with features being either rollable or jumped.
Red - A45
- Progress up from the Blue's.
Dual Track - 1460
- Opportunity to progress your skills whilst racing alongside your buddies.
Black Trails
- These are named Jett Black & Cherry Bomb and feature the more demanding jump and drop features on the site.
Skills Area
- There is also a mountain bike skills area for progression containing several short Green and Blue Grade Trail Sections in one condensed area. This helps riders to see which grade of the trail is right for them and progress onto higher graded trails in a safe environment. Hence you will find an entry-level green trail, a more advanced green with contain rollers and small berms. The blue skills section has larger and steeper rollers, with a small tabletop jump, and a berm.
Facilities
- Northampton Bike Park teamed up with Turtle Engineering Ltd to provide a defibrillator and emergency blood trauma kit on site. The state of the art equipment powered by wind and solar power is the first of its kind at a bike park in the UK.
Other Stuff
- There are five gathering spots to check out the next section of the track which is an aid for coaching.
- The design and build commission went to On Track.
- It is situated on the old Hard Nine golf course west of Brackmills Industrial Estate.
- The cost of the park was £750,000 of which £250,000 was funded by British Cycling, so a decent investment. Supported by funding through the Sports England's Places to Ride Programme.
- The bike park is free to ride but funded and maintained through car park fees and donations
