Brilliant for riding with children
I'd really recommend this to any parent who is fed up of cycling round the park/along the canal and wants to try somewhere a bit more interesting.
What do you like?
The wide, tarred track up the hill to the start of the trail makes it easy to push younger children up the hill, or for them to pedal up. Even a child with no gears will probably manage this trail.
There is free parking.
The trail is not too loose, and there are no big rocks, so you don't need great knobbly tires (which not all kids' bikes have). There are only a couple of muddier patches, but the trail is mostly well compacted hard core with a layer of pine needles over the top. It's a pretty soft landing if you do fall off.
It's a gentle downhill singletrack with a few trickier obstacles which you can practice your skills on or work up to if you're a younger child.
Beginner adults will also benefit from improving skills and confidence on this quiet trail. Or you can go really fast if you're good!
Accessible from the Pennine bridleway if you want to make a longer ride of it.
It's easy enough to be fun for even the youngest riders who are confident enough to move off flat tarred ground, but tricky enough to give them a challenge to keep them coming back.
What could be improved?
Only one trail.
No facilities, although Burnley is a short drive away and has everything you might need.
Would you recommend?
*Yes*
