I Dig Healey Nab group is dedicated to the construction and maintenance of Healey Nab mountain bike trails in conjunction with Lancs CC.

There are several trails at Healey Nab to suit all skill levels:

Red Climb

  • This trail leads from the access path to the trail head. It features switchbacks and some technical rocky and rooty areas

Red Downhill

  • Fast, flowing downhill trail featuring berms, rock gardens, drops and jumps. All features are either rollable or can be avoided.

Black Downhill

  • Fast downhill trail featuring tight berms, jumps and drops. This trail has two alternative versions

Red Return

  • A trail through the lower woods containing a mix of downhill and climbs. Featuring the collapsed wall rock garden.

Rear Red

  • A gentle red trail at the rear of the site, this is an area for future development

Other Stuff

  • Check out the Healey Nab Trail Map
  • Healey Nab Facebook group page.
  • The Red XC loop and black DH track were originally designed by trail builder Rowen Sorrel and built in 2010 with funding from Lancashire County Council in conjunction with local volunteers.

Healey nab

Top place to session, fast downhill track and plenty of skill needed on the black route,  not been for a while but used to go weekly, as I moved out of the area, will go back

What do you like?

Boss place when it's quiet and good place to chill out in between runs.

What could be improved?

No facilities and can be hard to find 1st time but end of the day, it's a track in the middle of the woods, couldn't ask for anything more

Would you recommend?

yes

Fab trails

Brilliant trail built to last

What do you like?

Everything is rollable so even novices can give everything a go and the trails are built to last even with no maintenance

What could be improved?

Local council pulled the volunteers from the hill so unfortunately is isn't as well maintained as before

Would you recommend?

yes

Well impressed

Great little place. Perfect to practice in a short loop. Very well maintained. Not to difficult but it has all needed to be able to push skills to a higher level. It is within a beatufull forest and if someone is up for a ride there is 25km XC trail around local reservoirs.

What do you like?

Great local spot.

What could be improved?

No facilities. No real parking.

Would you recommend?

*Yes*

Healey Nab Rocks

Think that I have said it all above. If you wantb trail centre, dont go. If you want a compact selection of Black and Red trials to session for fitness and skills development its a great place. I have spent at least half days and sometimes full days there. Healey Nab is what you make of it ?

What do you like?

* The black run is All weather and not affected by winter weather very much. * The black run although short is great to session and improve skills. * You can mix the trails up, a popular XC bike descent is Red - Black - Red, which gives you a nice flowy trail whilst missing out the rock gardens and drops. * Although the Red is a short loop you can keep sessioning the loop which is good fun, great for fitness and brilliant for improving technique as you get lots of attempts at the same terrain. * The trails are maintained by a very dedicated bunch of people so are always in pretty good condition. * Trails are never too busy and you tend to meet a decent bunch of people there. * Free parking and no over inflated prices coffee shop on site

What could be improved?

* As previously mentioned its not a trail centre. * The latter part of the Red loop can get boggy during the winter, but I know that the trail builders are looking at that. * It can be difficult to find initially. * The Black run push up line is not easy to find from the very bottom, but I'm being picky here.

Would you recommend?

*Yes*
