Fun in the depths of Yorkshire
Dalby was the first trail centre I visited approximately three years ago. We started on the blue section and joined the red to complete a decent route. Since then I've been hooked. Most recently we did the red route in May 2013; my speedo suggested it was nearer to 41km than 37, either way it did feel like a long drag, but with enough variety to keep enjoyment levels up. The course is set up that you don't need to complete the whole lot in one go, there are escape routes signposted at every forest road to divert those struggling or suffering mechanical failure. Some black diversions are available on the long sections, enabling faster riders to overtake without incident. There are some steep descents.
The staff at Dalby Bike Barn are great and the quality of hire bikes is excellent- we attended an XC race there in early 2013 with my gf suffering a broken chain on her own bike prior to the start. She won on her hired Scott bike.
What do you like?
Miles and miles of well-signed trail- make up your own routes
Well maintained trails
Plenty of singletrack
What could be improved?
Pricey parking- £7 to drive on the forest road which gives access to all car parks
Would you recommend?
*Yes*
