Chicksands Bike Park is situated in the Forest of Rowney Warren, in Bedfordshire. There are over 30 trails to explored including a dual slalom, a 4X, pump tracks, multiple lines of progressive dirt jumps, a BMX track, a skills area, a singletrack and multiple short downhill runs for all abilities.

Like this?

Dual Slalom - Blue

  • The Dual Slalom is the most fun you can have riding against your mates. It starts off with a starting ramp to a run into a kicker on the flat before you start descending around a sweeping corner to a large berm followed by a series of three or four tabletops. The best place to start is at the park.

Four Cross (4X) - Red

  • The National Standard 4X course allows you to race four riders side by side. Again, starting on a starting ramp (although this one is much higher than the Dual) there are doubles, tabletops, speed humps, big berms, a triple jump and a step up to step down near the end.

Pump Track(s)

  1. Tiger Cub Pump Track: Graded Green. A great pump track for toddlers on balance bikes. 2 berms with a few rollers between.
  2. Tiger Pump Track: Graded Green. A mix of rollers & berms that is slightly bigger than the tiger cub tracks.
  3. Pump Track: Graded Blue. A tighter & deeper track is more suited to experienced pump track riders.
  4. Race Track: Graded Blue. A national-level pump track race course, Starting from a start tower with a start gate. You fire into the course in your own lane tackling a straight of rollers before some berms & rollers to bring you to the finish.

Dirt Jumps

There are multiple lines of progressive dirt jumps where you will see some amazing skills taking place as the dirt jump community at Chicksands is well established.

  1. Blue: Small Practice Table Tops
  2. Red 6pack - A Table Top to start feeding into 3 doubles.
  3. Red: 8pack - 4 Average sized doubles
  4. Black: Comp Line - 4 Big Competition Line Jumps with wooden takeoffs used for Dirt Wars and by some of the best UK Dirt Jumpers/slopestyle riders.
  5. Red: Mulch Jump - With a wooden takeoff to practice your tricks onto a soft wood chip landing.

Downhill Runs

These are short as there is not much height but there is something for every level with kickers, doubles, medium-sized drops, big drops, large gaps, steep descents and progressive drops.

  1. The Bull Run starts with a three-metre drop that has bomb holes, large gap jumps and tight turns. Full face helmet and additional body armour are recommended for this course as it is graded as black-severe.
  2. The Snake Run starts from the same point as the Bull Run above and rolls out across the contour to start with. It traverses over rooted sections, over bomb holes, large gap jumps and round large berms. Body armour and a full-face helmet are advised. This is the most technical downhill course in the park with a Black - severe grading.
  3. Mini DH - This starts from the close to the top of the Dual Slalom course. Starting with a small tabletop into 2 small drops before a slightly bigger one. After there is a small 12ft gap jump before some tighter corners finishing towards the bottom of the hill. Graded red.
  4. Black Shark Attack Line. This has everything and is not for the faint-hearted. Check out the video under the video tab.
  5. Raidho red track. Opened in July 2025.

Brink/Santa Cruz line

  • Brink/Santa Cruz line by Forte Trailscapes

  • Lines in the Pines can be found between the jump area and mini dh expect awesomeness on this red flow/jump line feature packed with kickers, jumps, wooden platforms, and a whale tail.

Develop your skills at your pace

Great spot to develop your skills and have lots of fun on an MTB. Something for everyone.

What do you like?

I learnt to jump here and go back every week or two and to keep the skills sharp. I've built up from being unable to jump out of your way to hitting the big gap jumps. Same on the drops. Initially scary, now doing them easily. Brilliant place and you can push yourself as hard and fast as you want. The XC route is a good warm up or cool down as well.

What could be improved?

It feels like interval training on an MTB. Facilities are fine but no cafe...never tried the oriental food either.

A belter of a spot.

Dont even think about not visiting Chicksands you wont regret it !

What do you like?

So i found Chicksands after a couple of years off the bike , It was exactly what i needed to get me back in the swing of things and with a little help from the local hero Tom i soon got back to a good riding standard and founf the it was a perfect place to progress and build up the skills , i still visit as often as i can and have never failed to enjoy the place , one really positive point is that the dirt drains really quickly so in the wet this is the place to go. Local riders are friendly and often there is the luxury of fresh cooked Thai food from regular chef and rider Bubee and his Truly Thai food van !

What could be improved?

the only problem i ever have is that in the really super dry periods the sandy nature of the dirt makes it a bit too drifty drifty but thats the price for the all weather all year ride-ability of the spot.

Berms, berms and berms!

Chicksands literally has something for everyone, right from bmxers to dh's! The dual slalom is my favourite thing to ride here. Full of plenty of berms and some small tables. There are jumps of all sizes here, and some very big drops which are probably best watched than ridden...

What do you like?

A huge variety

What could be improved?

Can get full of braking bumps

Would you recommend?

one of the best bike parks around

chicksands is simply fantastic, there are seemingly no end of trails to try from 4x, dual slalom, a few mini down hill runs dirt jumps, pump track, cross country (not maintained) plus a few other bits and bobs. chicksands is perfect for honing your skills, racing your mates, or just getting your adrenaline fix. and as its sandy there it doesnt seem to hurt as much when you come flying off the bike.

What do you like?

ridable in all weather conditions well maintained outstanding trails

What could be improved?

no base, toilets, bike wash etc. just a car park cross country needs work

Would you recommend?

*Yes*
