What was once a mtb destination trail is now a very sad reflection of its former glory. The FE has pretty much removed all features turning it into a basic XC loop.
Drains well after heavy rain.
Good for fitness training.
Car parking is extortionate.
Featurless.
Many sections often closed.
No cctv in car park means high rate of theft.

A victim of its own success. Not a bad place but neither the dog or monkey would be red trails anywhere else. Trails have had features removed to cope with large influx of inexperienced riders. Forestry England who manage the trail had previously said they would reinstate more challenging features when the newer blue trail opened before the commonwealth games. They have actually further removed and flattened things. If you live close by then it's fine but not worth a special visit.
Free. Pretty well maintained. Facilities at trail centre.
Sanitised. Money has been spent but on resurfacing to cope with traffic. All features that made it a red have been removed over the past 5 years or so.
