Description

Bolehills BMX Track is in Walkley in Sheffield. It has a long, impressive history having originally been built in the early 80s. It has 4 straights, 9 different lines, plus a pump track. It's got something for every ability.

The track is popular with both small and big wheels it has had numerous great revamps since then, featured in movies, won awards, and has an ever-active and strong welcoming community.

Also in 2023 they are putting together a documentary of Bolehills BMX from 1983 to the present day which will rightly immortalise an amazing record and achievement 


Bolehills BMX Track

  • The Track is large and progressive in nature with all ranges of jumps from doubles, step-ups, and rollers. It also has large berms and a tarmac start hill. It has 4 main straights each with varying levels of grade and 9 different lines in total. It has a pump track intrinsically linked to the track in the center.
  • In May 2023 they have a new backset line finished, a whole new split third straight line, tweaks to the final straight and berm, pump track revamp and resurface, plus the usual resurfacing of backset and the rest of the track.

Other Stuff

  • The track is run by The Sheffield Dirt Society with help and support from Ride Sheffield and Bike Track.
  • As well as the general Facebook page there is an active Facebook group found here.
  • They run an annual Helltrack event worth checking out.

Bole hills is bloody beautiful

Love this place overall best bmx track in Yorkshire and probably the world

What do you like?

Inclusive for everyone, amazing quality, great people, able to progress, President Dave is the best he gave me a kebab

Place is amazing just shows what a set of locals can achieve 👏 🙌

What do you like?

Loads of different lines so much for people to progress on no matter there age

What could be improved?

Could do with a local toilet

Bolehills 2023

Bolehills has had a massive revamp for 2023 and has an amazing mix of lines- all to ride for FREE and built by committed volunteers in a public park in Sheffield.

What do you like?

The sickest public free to ride jumps in the country.

What could be improved?

In a public park so not loads of facilities - great coffee van Gypsys Brew at the weekends, close local pubs and facilities within a short walk.

Club: Sheffield Dirt Society #bolehillsforever

What do you like?

Something for all abilites: Pump track can be ridden on strider bikes, back straight is challenging for even highly experienced riders and there are plenty of options allowing for progression. The last straight is really fun and pumpy which is great for less experienced riders. It has a very friendly, inclusive local scene from numerous disciplines and the club will be running gate sessions this summer! Recently been completely resurfaced so is going to awesome this summer once it has bedded in. If you are coming any distance, you can get in touch with the track custodians via the Bolehills FB page to ensure that the track conditions are suitable for riding. Regarding facilites, despite the track having none, there are lots of local shops, takeaways and pubs within walking distance of the track. It is also close to the city centre, the universities and the Peak.

Bolehills Forever

Bets BMX track ever. #bolehillsforever

What do you like?

Layout is a classic. Who can argue with the backstraight - most fun set of jumps at a BMX track in the UK. Last straight is easy and fun for kids, first straight is like a set of trails.SICK pumptrack. In the process of getting a huge revamp. Watch this space

What could be improved?

Rough and ready. Don't expect finely trimmed grass verges and butter smooth surfacing (yet!). The spirit of bolehills is in the vibes
