Description

Foel Gasnach is a specialist downhill mountain bike base in the Clocaenog Forest just outside of Ruthin, Denbighshire. FDHR is open to Members/Day pass Members only, 7 days a week. There is an uplift service on site.

Foel Gasnach is currently closed and riding is not allowed. To quote:

Unfortunately, all of our tracks are closed until further notice.

Keep an eye on our social media channels for information regarding the re opening.

The track is set up with progressive development in mind and so caters to all abilities with several differing ability tracks. The four tracks are named in the order they were built rather than the order you find them. The order you come across them is Track 2, then Track 4, then Track 1, and finally Track 3. Simple Sherlock.

Membership

  • The Foel DH riders organise events and manage the maintenance of the track. The club costs a nominal fee and you must have a membership to ride the track so get in contact with them on their website.

Track 1

  • Track 1 was the first track to be built. We don't have actual grading but this is known as the hardest. It has a rooty terrain and is very steep (you need to commit).

Track 2

  • Track 2 is the entry-level track.

Track 3

  • Track 3 is no walk in the park.

Track 4

  • Track 4 is again steep and twisty with small drops and a fun gap jump over a stream.

Brings the smiles!

Some of the best riding in North Wales. Fast, technical and very natural trails. Some of the best riders in the world have been here and come back for more. £20 per year membership which covers you for riding there (proper insurance)

What do you like?

Really short uplift route. Can easily get 20 runs in a day if you want through a good variety of tracks which sure all levels of rider. More is planned for the site with a few more tracks and facilities to be added. Good local accommodation available too and some decent pubs for a post ride pint.

What could be improved?

Car park can get a bit crowded when it's super busy but there is another close to the halfway spot on the uplift road. No toilets (yet, I think the are in the pipeline as well as a small shop)

You'll want to come back time and time again......best tracks around!!! You wont get bored of this place!. With new features now in place inc a couple of table tops, doubles, hip jumps, new drop offs and the ridiculous new drop/shoot at the bottom of track 1. Together with the steep switchbacks, tight twisty turns, slippery roots and rock gardens that will challenge even the Elite rider. (Not for the faint hearted ;) To ride these awesome tracks you do need to become a member and can join by visiting there website, and for only £10 a year its well worth it. Also one of the Best things about this place is that its easy to uplift, we got 18 runs in one day and wern't even pushing it
