Antur Stiniog is a full-on downhill centre with uplift. The set up is a minibus uplift service with spaced trailers to protect your bike. Also, the tracks are built to cover those just getting into Downhill through to the hardcore advanced rider.

Plug and Feathers (Green)

  • The beginner trail - 2km of flowing beautiful single track

Shaft (Blue)

  • Track with a series of berms and twists that take you the way down back to the pickup point

Jymapr aka Jumper (Blue)

  • A smoother entry-level Blue run and blue grade trail aimed at the novice Dh rider. You will find flowing turns and singletrack. Less steep and longer than the other tracks. F2 sections before giving you the option to join the green or a red at the mid-way point. Fun for all levels also and can be ridden on a trail bike.

Wildcart (Red)

  • The Wildcart DH, Freeride run is steep with berms, rocks, step downs and jumps. It flows, is fast and is said to be rideable on a 6-inch travel bike.

Scrubadub (Red)

  • A track with berms and jumps and enters into Wildcat at a fast speed.

Drafft (Red)

  • The Drafft Red DH / Freeride has a steep roll in through the opening berms, followed by corners, berms, jumps and step downs. Again rideable on a 5-6 inch travel bike. Slightly less technical than the Wild Cart above as all features are rollable.

Detonator (Red)

  • A more natural unsurfaced trail with plenty of ‘airtime’

Meehhh Line (Red)

  • This is the main jump line with 30+ jumps (all rollable)

Y Du aka The Black (Black)

  • The Y DU black downhill run is fast and is peppered with gnarly steep rock sections throughout. The trail is also littered with jumps, berms and is very steep. This is the most technical track on offer here.

Black Powder (Black)

  • Black Powder (black) downhill run DH run shares the top 50m of Y DU but then goes down around the other side of the hill. Again rock sections and jumps define this trail.

Bendy-G (Black)

  • 400 metres with 20 turns (hence the name). Built to offer riders a dirt track. Very twisty it branches off Black Powder from the bottom bridge

Re-Powder (Black)

  • Branches off Black Powder and offers a burlier option with a committing rock drop.

Field Jumps (Black)

  • These are the biggest jumps on site take you back to the pick- up point.

Pump Track

  • Jump circuit located near the car park.

An awesome, tough, bike breaker of a centre

Such an awesome trail centre. Don't be put off by the uplift only aspect, although to try to ride it on a XC bike would be missing the point slightly. This is a DH venue. Its steep, rocky, fast, flowy, floaty, tough on bikes, and tough on riders. I've been lucky enough to ride here on a bluebird day, and it was without doubt the most progressive riding I've done. The blues are all rollable (although still tough), the reds make you think, and the blacks make you realise why you love this sport. I managed 12 uplifts in a day and 2 days later my body is still complaining. Well worth the drive (I mean come on, it is bloody miles from anywhere), and the ladies in the café do a mean bacon bap. Top marks all round, when the XC loop comes online it'll be busy so get there whilst you can.

What do you like?

Great variety, quick efficient uplift. One of the few places where there are more uplifts than your body can handle. Top of my list and well worth the 3hr drive

Great Destination

What do you like?

I've visited Antur a few times now and always come away having had a fantastic days riding. a day on Black Powder and you'll feel it through your arms and wrists by the end of the day. The double black steps things up in terms of steepness and the blue/red routes are well laid out. With an easier blue under construction this really is a place with something for all. And that uplfit is just soooooo fast.

What could be improved?

It's soooo far away !

Awesome intro to DH!

I've recently started to dabble in a bit of downhill, and have to say that Antur Stiniog is a great place to start doing so. Granted, I've only tackled the blue and done the red once, but it's a great little place and we'll worth the visit if you're into DH. Even if you're only into XC, it's worth a visit. The trails are downhill grades, so the blue here is similar to an XC black. The staff are very friendly and cheerful, the whole place is run very professionally, and all the usual facilities are there. Full face helmet and body armour are a REALLY good idea - if you come off, you're likely to get ripped to shreds thanks to the slate.

What do you like?

• Fast uplift with quality trailers that won't damage your bike. • Friendly staff. • Cafe, shower, and toilets on site. • Great trails with plenty of challenges and features to keep you on your toes. • Ideal for starting out with DH. • Photographer is usually around to take photos so you can buy some awesome shots after your visit.

What could be improved?

• You'll want to go back. A lot. • Can get very cold and windy - almost all the trails are out in the open, aside from a very short bit at the bottom. • Tube and tyre destroyer. Dual ply tyres are a good idea if you have them.

Yes

Top DH & Freeride centre in Wales & England, if not the UK

Excellent selection of well built and challenging trails. Grading is justified. Blue here is DH blue in UK terms, or a regular European blue and would be more like a black in any normal English or maybe Welsh trail centre (have yet to do any Scottish riding so can't compare there). Trails are designed so you can progress with skills from blue to black and depending how fast you run them and the options you take, the air you get (and you will get air in places whether you try or not). Very efficient uplift. Next bus is always there just as you get to the base. Nice grub in the slate cavern cafe (not been since they've built the new centre). Bouncy AM or DH bike recommended, full face and armour for full fun. If you've been to Bike Park Wales and thought that was good, Stiniog is several levels better than that in what you get out of a day. Book the uplift for the day.

What do you like?

Great trails. Challenging. Accurate grading and good for DH beginner to expert. Efficient uplift. Many runs in a day. Good facilities. Ideal to progress skills.

What could be improved?

Hard to think of any. Bit bleak, but that's the charm of Blaenau Ffestiniog. Cold at the top on a windy cold day, but fine when you get moving.
