Description

Antur Stiniog is a Downhill MTB centre in Blaenau Ffestiniog, North Wales. There are 14 DH tracks covering all grades from green, blue, red, and black varying from 1.2 - 2.5km in length. There is also a Pump/ Jump Park. All set in rocky, slate-packed, rugged, and open terrain. There is a visitors' centre, cafe, bike wash, shop, and showers. Make sure you book the uplift in advance.

Antur Stiniog is a full-on downhill centre with uplift. The set up is a minibus uplift service with spaced trailers to protect your bike. Also, the tracks are built to cover those just getting into Downhill through to the hardcore advanced rider.

Plug and Feathers (Green)

  • The beginner trail - 2km of flowing beautiful single track

Shaft (Blue)

  • Track with a series of berms and twists that take you the way down back to the pickup point

Jymapr aka Jumper (Blue)

  • A smoother entry-level Blue run and blue grade trail aimed at the novice Dh rider. You will find flowing turns and singletrack. Less steep and longer than the other tracks. F2 sections before giving you the option to join the green or a red at the mid-way point. Fun for all levels also and can be ridden on a trail bike.

Wildcart (Red)

  • The Wildcart DH, Freeride run is steep with berms, rocks, step downs and jumps. It flows, is fast and is said to be rideable on a 6-inch travel bike.

Scrubadub (Red)

  • A track with berms and jumps and enters into Wildcat at a fast speed.

Drafft (Red)

  • The Drafft Red DH / Freeride has a steep roll in through the opening berms, followed by corners, berms, jumps and step downs. Again rideable on a 5-6 inch travel bike. Slightly less technical than the Wild Cart above as all features are rollable.

Detonator (Red)

  • A more natural unsurfaced trail with plenty of ‘airtime’

Meehhh Line (Red)

  • This is the main jump line with 30+ jumps (all rollable)

Y Du aka The Black (Black)

  • The Y DU black downhill run is fast and is peppered with gnarly steep rock sections throughout. The trail is also littered with jumps, berms and is very steep. This is the most technical track on offer here.

Black Powder (Black)

  • Black Powder (black) downhill run DH run shares the top 50m of Y DU but then goes down around the other side of the hill. Again rock sections and jumps define this trail.

Bendy-G (Black)

  • 400 metres with 20 turns (hence the name). Built to offer riders a dirt track. Very twisty it branches off Black Powder from the bottom bridge

Re-Powder (Black)

  • Branches off Black Powder and offers a burlier option with a committing rock drop.

Field Jumps (Black)

  • These are the biggest jumps on site take you back to the pick- up point.

Pump Track

  • Jump circuit located near the car park.

Other Stuff

Not a bad downhill centre

For me it was worth one visit to see what it's like, but a four and half hour journey, one visit is all I'd give it. Trails do make you smile, really hard going! I hit four runs within the first hour, and got really bad arm pump

What do you like?

Very fast uplift turnaround! Nice trails

What could be improved?

Trails get very repetitive, although there's different start and finish lines. The blues and reds all run into and exit the same main line.

Awesome

If your normally a trail rider it's hard work on your bike and body even though there's no climbing. High risk of punctures so get your grippy high volume tyres on

What do you like?

Fast uplift Excellent trails Good value Good cafe

My first and still favourite.

Best set up bike park I've visited, done a few now and still get a tingle as the van drives up to the top, game face on, time to shred.

What do you like?

Fantastic people and facilities, the tracks are all awesome, take your pick but dont push too hard at first, done all the tracks in rain, snow, hail, gales and even once or twice sun! Smashed my collarbone, ragged my legs, hands, elbows and butt, and just love the place.always challenging and always fun, even when you cant see 10 foot in front of you!!

What could be improved?

Not situated on the Mediterranean coast.not the best place to learn how to ride hard, learn your skills elsewhere then put them to the real test here.
