Overview

  • Although waymarked it is recommended to use a trail map especially to help you find the start of the trail. You can get this from the nearest bike shop called Square Wheels.
  • The trail is most famous for holding the annual mid-winter Strathpuffer 24-hour race. Probably one of the coldest and harshest MTB races globally.

Routes

    Strathpeffer Trail

  • The Strathpeffer trail for the Strathpuffer is a 12.5 km trail with roots, rocks, singletrack and steep climbs and descents. Race Route.
  • Knockfarrel and Cnoc Mor

  • This is a 10km / 6 mile technically hard MTB trail. Details can be found here.

Great fun especially in Jan in the dark !!

Enter one of the hardest MTB races in the world and enjoy.

What do you like?

Love this place just for the fact of the Strathpuffer. Yes there are more technical and exciting tracks but this place has a special something about it. We did a recce a month ago when the place was dead quiet and you still feel the race is there.

What could be improved?

Can be repetitive if you have done the Puffer a few times.

Would you recommend?

*Yes*

Another 2am in January Review

No idea what it's like in decent weather/daylight.

What do you like?

Epic race venue, with superb atmosphere. Bit of everything on the trail, rocks, roots, bridges, mud... folk handing out chocolate...

What could be improved?

The fire road climb, just when you think it's over there's more. :)

Would you recommend?

What do you like?

Legendary race venue cracking final descent

What could be improved?

It's icy It's cold It's probably wet and windy too And it's 2 am. Er, that's about it for bad points and only apply at 2am in January, when there's another 300 Nutters camped around the trail

Would you recommend?

*Yes*
