A hidden gem
Glentrool is probably the most overlooked of all the 7Stanes, being that much further away from the main Stanes and also only having a couple of greens, a blue and a purple route. But if you're willing to make the trip out there you're in for a fair amount of fun. Whilst there's no arguing that it's really not the most technical of MTBing I challenge you not to finish the 2.5km descent without a huge smile on your face :)
Often we add a few more miles on by heading up the Bennan about 2/3 of the way in (an 1800ft summit) on forest road, then pick up the rest of the trail after descending the hill. It would make a wicked DH course if anyone wants to throw some cash at it hint hint!
What do you like?
Sweeping single track
bermed corners are brilliant fun
View at the end of the climb looking over loch Trool
well drained
quiet
What could be improved?
Fair bit of climbing for a green, more on the blue
no bike facilities on site; shop/ wash
Would you recommend?
*Yes*
