Description

Glenlivet Mountain Bike Trail Centre is in the Cairngorms National Park. There are blue, red, and black trails, an orange freeride line, a short Mini Downhill enduro-style track, a pro-XL jump line, a cafe, a pump track and a skills area. There is also a network of natural off-piste trails.

Like this?

Glenlivet Blue

  • Glenlivet Blue is a 9km blue grade route suitable for all the family but exciting to ride with its twists and turns and great flow. The Blue is 'swoopy', sort of like a bobsleigh run-stroke roller coaster ride. But it is blue so no deliberate jumps on it, however, if you try hard and you know the trail there are jump opportunities to be had. It's pretty rad for a blue.

Glenlivet Red

  • Glenlivet Red is a 22K red-grade route with black-grade technical features to keep the expert mountain biker entertained all year long! Glenlivet Red climbs to the summit of Carn Daimh, offering breathtaking views of the Cairngorms before plunging into the Glenlivet descent; 6.5K of single track downhill packed with black grade features and jumps. the red is tight and twisty, described as sort of 'Welsh' in places (think narrow full bench cut on a steep side slope).

Glenlivet Orange

  • The Orange freeride line is 1km long and full of jumps and berms.

Mini DH

  • Mini DH starts just at the top end of the car park and is just under 1km. It has muddy sections, roots, large drop-offs (can ride around), jumps and steep sections.
  • For 2025 there will be a top section for Mini DH, starting next to Keiran’s line. It will be a blend of machine-built, and hand-dug trail sections to give as natural a feel as possible, while at the same time constructed to stand up to the volume of riders expected to use it. This style of construction tries to minimise the impact on the environment and ensure the trail rides differently in the wet compared to dry conditions, with some roots and mud still evident.

Glendura - Black

  • This hand-built track kicks just above the top of the Red and joins the red lower down after a mix of fast open hillside, tech, loam and woods.

Kieran’s line - Pro

      • Glenlivet’s XL jump trail is called ‘Kieran’s line’. It is named in memory of Keiran Mckandie @keiranslegacysavinglives. It is a pro-difficult jump line to challenge and push your progression.

Pump Track / Skills Area

      • A 75-metre progressive pump track.

Glenlivet Hand-Cut Natural Trails

      • A few natural trails like the Grey Area, Steep Spice and the Diamh Hard, Glenduro and Mini DH dotted around.

Facilities

      • A friendly welcome awaits at the Bike Glenlivet Centre which has all the facilities to meet your needs
      • The Coffee Still cafe is ready to refuel you after your ride with a selection of hot snacks and delicious home baking.
      • Car Park / Cafe / Toilets (open 24hrs) / Baby changing / Bike hire / Bike wash / Information

Natural Trails

      • There are many miles of epic natural trail riding available within the Glenlivet Estate, a free estate map is available locally and on the estate website to help plan your route.

Clubs and Groups

      • Moray Mountain Bike Club is based locally

Other Stuff

      • The project was created by The Crown Estate, owners of Glenlivet Estate, with assistance from the European Development Fund, Cairngorms National Park Authority and Moray Council
      • The trails opened in November 2013
      • Russell Burton carried out the initial feasibility study in 2009 with Paul Masson at 'Cycletherapy' doing the build.
      • Funding consists of
        • Car park money, all of which is ring-fenced for trail maintenance and development. They charge for a day’s parking, with the trails and toilet facilities free to use.
        • Grant funding; local windfarm etc
        • Contribution from Crown Estate Scotland which they lease the land.
        • Contribution from their own company: Bike Glenlivet Ltd.
