Drumtochty Trails

  • Most of the trails are on Strathfinella Hill, and Black Hill on the opposite side of the road from the North Drumtochty Car Park.
  • They are easily accessed by trails a hundred yards or so up the road from the car park, turn either right or left as you exit.
  • The terrain is loamy, and fast draining. Many of the trails are short, but they are close to each other so can be linked up.
  • Some of the popular tracks include Sitka, Dundee Down (Blacks) and Keep Your Trout in Your Pants, Keyfinder and Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3 and Stage 4, Lockdown, Quarry Run and F & F (reds).
  • The routes to the north side of Glen Drumtochty road also provide a way of accessing Fetteresso Forest and its mountain bike routes.
  • There is a lot of great MTB in Aberdeenshire, including Tarland Trails, Scolty Hill, Pitfichie, Aboyne and Ballater

Other Stuff

  • There are also access trails suitable for gravel bikes in the forest
  • Drumtochty features in the Aberdeenshire Enduro Series competitions.
  • Aberdeenshire Trail Association are involved in maintaining the trails.
  • There are limited facilities (no toilets, closest in Auchenblae). It is served by a three car parks.

A great way to spend a day riding natural trails of varing grade and type.

What do you like?

Impressive amount of work on many trails, best steep trails in the north east. Long and short trails.
