Description
Cyclone Bike Track at Gypsy Brae is a Mountain Bike Track at Gypsy Brae Recreation Ground in North Edinburgh. A true mountain bike urban project. Already there are two phases complete (a family circuit and a more technical trail) and more is upcoming over the next few weeks and months. There is a family green circuit, a red route and a pump track. Also planned is a blue route on which work has started.

Family Circuit
- This is a short 300m snaking circuit for children, families and adults to practice their skills. It is a one way green graded narrow path with some small purpose built bumps, rollers and tight bends as well as 1 or 2 larger jumps.
Red Singletrack
- There are 80 metres and 175 metres red graded options of narrow single-track with rocky technical sections.
Blue XC route (Planned)
- This will be a blue graded smooth narrow trail with an easy gradient with one or two basic ramps and chokes built from gathered boulders and blocks.
Pump Track
- 300 metres of rolling bumps and berms.
Other Info
- Members of the public are able to use the track free all year round and at their own risk but MYDG & MY Adventure will run regular training sessions to learn and develop mountain bike skills.
- The mountain bike track is the brainchild of Peter Airlie, a senior instructor with the Muirhouse Youth Development Group (MYDG) and is being managed formally by the social enterprise arm of MYDG.
- Predominately a community built project is has been built with only £5000 of funding.
- Over 80 local volunteers built the first phase of the bike track, then another 100 built phase 2.
