Description

Bonaly Downhill and Mountain Bike Trails are in the Pentland Hills on the South West outskirts of Edinburgh.

Like this?

Downhill

  • The area has Downhill runs with jumps on the side of White Hil. It is a small section of runs hidden in the woods above bonaly scout camp. The run from top to bottom is probably only between 1 and 2 minutes but there are lots of sections to ride and it links well to the rest of the pentland hills as a final descent back home

Cross Country

  • The cross country is single-track epic riding and a good starting point is from Bonaly Country Park car Park. From there you can head off to explore the Pentland Hills.
  • MTB Trails has a good area description and a 33 km XC route that runs through the Pentland hills.

Groups

  • To get involved check out the Bonaly Facebook Page who manage all building work first through consultation with the local ranger.

Pretty good for what it is

I know I have learned a lot from riding these trails and built up my confidence immensely. Its easy to spend an afternoon here. and its great for being so close to the city - if you are from Edinburgh you probably already have ridden here but if you haven't its worth a visit. Although its not worth a journey to visit.

What do you like?

Good for progressing skills and building up speed and confidence Close to the city A lot of fun can be had sessioning the good features Flowy

What could be improved?

Short Not well maintained because in part due to some conflict with rangers as regards to what can be built

Would you recommend?

*Yes*
