From dig days 🪏 to data 💾 : iBikeRide’s toolkit for trail communities

Our mission is simple: help riders find the trails they love. Trails don’t just appear — they’re created and cared for by communities. Whether you’re a dig crew, a trail collective, or a bike park owner, iBikeRide's platform is here to connect riders with your work and help your trails thrive.

How iBikeRide supports trail communities

  • News & updates: Share your trail news and we’ll publish it on iBikeRide and amplify it across our website, app, newsletter and social channels.
  • Events — now also on trail listings: Add your own events (dig days, trail cleans, demo days, festivals, races) or tell us and we’ll publish them for you. These appear in the central event calendar, event map and are now also synced automatically to the relevant trail’s listing page under a dedicated Events tab. That means when riders visit your trail, they’ll also see your upcoming events — helping boost turnout and support.
  • Trail of the Year campaign: We spotlight the UK’s top trails and gather rich rider feedback. That powers tailored Trail Reports for each trail — what riders love and what they’d like improved — to inform development.
  • Embed reviews: Showcase your iBikeRide reviews on your own website with our embed widget to build credibility and engagement.
  • Owner’s Reply to Reviews (new): You can now reply directly to rider reviews on iBikeRide. It’s a quick way to say thanks, clarify details, and show you’re listening. When you reply, the rider also receives an email notification — extending your reach and strengthening your relationship with the community.

Getting Started Guide

We list out the recommended approach to getting started but each service can be done in any order and independently of each other.

1) Share any news, updates directly using the contact page on the site. We are always happy to publish content directly on your behalf. 👉 contact us

2) Register and log in and become part of the community. Also this will enable most of the following services 👉 join us

3) Owner’s Reply to Reviews:

To reply to reviews or edit your trail details, you’ll need to claim your trail:

  1. Go to your trail’s page on iBikeRide and click Claim.
  2. Register or log in if not already, then complete the short form.
  3. Once verified, your account is associated with the trail.

After claiming, you can:.

  • Reply to rider reviews directly from the front end of the website (with email notifications sent to riders to further extend your reach).
  • Edit and control your own trail listing see below.

4) Update your listing directly:

By following the claims process in in point 3 above you can also edit and update your trail listing information  directly to keep it current. We give details how once the claim is approved.

5) Add your events:

Log in and use the Add Event option, or send us details via the contact page and we’ll add them for you. Your events will appear in the central calendar, map, and automatically on your trail’s listing page under the Events tab. 👉 add event

6) Embed reviews on your site:

You can find the embed tab on the trail listing with the widget code. Copy and paste the widget code into your website. It updates automatically as new reviews are added, helping you showcase rider feedback. 👉 embed reviews

7) Take part in Trail of the Year:

Every summer we run the Trail of the Year campaign. Encourage your riders to leave reviews during the campaign window. The more reviews you gather, the richer your feedback — and if your trail qualifies, you’ll also receive a tailored Trail Report from your community on what they like and would like to see next at their local trail spot. 👉 trail of the year

Trail listings: now a one-stop planning destination

Every trail listing has trail descriptions, images, videos, directions, discussions and, as discussed above, the Embed and Events tabs.

We want every trail page on iBikeRide to be a live planning hub — bringing together everything riders need in one place.

So in addition, riders will find:

  • Social tab: shows your latest verified social posts, updates, and closure alerts so riders always have the freshest information straight from your team.

  • News tab: highlights iBikeRide news and stories about your trail, including dig days, maintenance updates, and local events.

  • Weather tab: combines local weather and ground-condition data with etiquette guidance — helping riders prepare properly and protect the trails when it’s soft or soaked.

  • Tracks tab powered by Strava: maps all the rideable tracks and lines at your venue using Strava data, helping riders plan their visit and discover what’s on offer.

Together, these live features make trail listings more than a directory — they’re an active planning and stewardship resource for both riders and builders.

Looking ahead

We’re always exploring ways to better support trail communities. Ideas under consideration include:

  • đź’ˇ Status flags: An “open/closed/status” option on listings to quickly show weather closures or works in progress is under consideration.
  • đź’ˇ Donation or funding links: Surfacing direct support options (like fundraising or membership pages) on trail listings.

Got feedback or ideas? Tell us what would help your trail community most — we’d love to hear from you. 👉 contact us
