Stainburn

Great little place to ride and the black trail is slow but very technical. The red is a fun trial, littered with boulders and rock gardens. There are off piste trails at the opposite side of the road

What do you like?

Black trail is very technical

What could be improved?

Quite small

Would you recommend?

Yes

Stainburn Short and sweet.

I see there haven't been any recent reviews for Stainburn. The description above is pretty accurate apart from the bit about the pump track. It's still awaiting attention so I wouldn't recommend a visit if that's your carrot. It was recommended to me about 3 years ago by a guy at our LBS and I've been hooked ever since. The big attraction for me is that the main trails are rideable all year round. The flip side to this is: the red trails are rideable all year round because large parts of them are surfaced with gritstone. If you don't like rocks you may not be too keen. Because of the terrain and the size of the place, the trails are pretty much just up, down repeat. But you could session/learn them all day to develope your riding and there's zero "boring fire Road". The climbs are technical, including black options, and will develope your climbing skills as well. As an indicator of how well regarded the place is, I know for a fact the guys from Jungle/Stif are regulars there and you could well bump into guys from Hope from time to time as well. The black trail is a technical rock fest and not for the faint hearted but many people claim to like it. A lap round the XC loop over the road would extend your stay but be prepared for some gloop when it's wet and maybe do a bit of research before you get there so you know where you're aiming as signage is not the best. I've just checked my Strava and I've been 23 times in 3 years. Suits me ?

What do you like?

Variety of trails. All the main trails are almost weatherproof. ie armoured surface, almost no mud all year round. Longer XC trail over the road Pretty quiet

What could be improved?

No facilities. (Be prepared).

Stainburn for the win...

What do you like?

The Stainburn trails are great fun and give you no choice but to imprive your skills. Very addictive short trails you can session all day long and build skills fast. Also as it's little known it is usually fairly quiet with no queues or braking bumps.

What could be improved?

No fascilities as this is not a trail centre.

What do you like?

For a beginner there is everything there to progress, it has a variety of trails for everyone. I spent most weekends there a s child and I loved it! The downhill sections are fun and techy.

What could be improved?

Could have some more tech in there and a full length proper downhill track

Would you recommend?

*Yes*
