Description

Queen Elizabeth Country Park (QECP) Mountain Bike Trails are just straight off the A3 in Hampshire, England, and have a blue, red Lite Blue, Skills area, a mini wheel kids track, and other natural trails around the area.

Like this?

The Red

  • This mountain bike trail is graded red and is 7.5km (4.6 miles) long. This is mostly single-track, a lot of which is off-camber, rooty and with some decent climbing and steep gradients. Expect some kickers, jumps and small drops.

The Blue

  • The blue is 6km (3.7 miles) long. It is an all-weather trail with 65% single-track with fun berms and rollers as well as blue and red drop options. Some of the singletrack sections are deerstalker, swoopy and lumberjack.

Wiggly Worm (Lite Blue / Green Track)

  • Just opposite where the blue final descent ends (the official end) there is a 300m but fun 'Lite Blue' / greengraded track.

Skills Area - Bike Base

  • There is a skills area and jump line at Benham Bushes (runs from the end of the Light Blue trail to the car park).

Kids Track - Bike Base

  • In March 2023 work also started on a new mini wheel, kids track for balance bikes by the Visitors Centre.

Natural Trails

  • The park is situated on the south downs way which runs through the middle of the forest. It offers great access to the rest of the South Downs. Two specific non-waymarked trails start in the park and lead out into the surrounding countryside. These use the rights of way networks and some public roads. Queen Elizabeth 16 km (10 miles), Meon Valley 16km (10 miles). For more information on these routes and others in Hampshire, a pack of 'Off Road Cycle Trails' is available from the Visitor Centre. There are also a number of downhill / enduro style natural trails around the area.

Great trails, maintained by great volunteers

Had a great spin round the park last night, riding the red trail. The new stuff is looking great. Great kids facilities with the 3 new tracks for kids / skills.

The best day out on the South Downs

Blue trail is the new grin inducing one. Just East Riding and mucho fun.

new Skills areas are weird, the jumps are not that well built, compared to Kye Forte’s GAS jumps or BPW A470 line that is.

The red trail is possibly one of the best there is. Classic trail, feels more up than down and widdles its way through the forest so nicely. It used to be roots and chalk and off camber roots chalky corners, and (thankfully) there’s still a lot of that but the guys are working hard to fix them. Please don’t take all the rooty chalk danger away!

All In all an excellent day out, I much prefer here to Swinley and (like Swinley) if you can hitch a ride with a lock there’s plenty of off piste nonsense to challenge the more hardcore rider too.

What do you like?

Love the trails, most people are nice and there’s good parking and food.

What could be improved?

Please can we go back to a cheap cuppa! The new cafe is great but some of us ride on a budget!

please can you redo the jumps on the bigger skills area!

any chance of some really big stuff now that Kingley Vale is gone?

Would be much better if the loose gravel was removed from the berms and turns on the blue route. It's lethal now. Has turned a once very fast flowtrail into a skating rink.

Best place in the south of Enland

I love this place it’s on my doorstep and go there almost weekly.

its really good considering it’s only volunteers & money raised by charity money which keeps this going & creates new routes.

There is something for everyone but the only thing it hasn’t got is the big stuff but I’ve met professionals there & they come from all over to ride it & say how good it is.

What do you like?

The natural routes & setting.

the varied places & friendly atmosphere

What could be improved?

Some bigger jumps some gap jumps & stuff for the more advanced riders

Would you recommend?

yes
