Description

The Peak District Mountain Bike Trails are in the Peak District National Park in Derbyshire, England. The natural terrain is rocky, steep, often muddy, and epic. The area is split into two with the technical gritstone of the Dark Peak and the rolling limestone hills and dales of the White Peak. Some of the more famous sections are Jacob's Ladder, Doctors Gate, Cut Gate Path, and the Stanage Steps. We have a rich source of GPS tracks to access (check out the GPS Tab).

Like this?

  • The network of trails probably frequented the most are around Edale, Hope Valley, Ladybower and the Upper Derwent reservoirs. All these trails are natural and often evolved over old ruined roman roads and bridleways and there is no way-marking so be prepared and if you can hook up with a local or club to get the best out of it.
  • The local trail advocacy group is Peak District MTB and you can get up to date trail conditions from the Keeper of the Peak twitter feed.

Here is a taster of some of the top routes and you can access many of these and more with GPS tracks under the GPS tab on this listing:

Doctors Gate and Cut Gate Path

  • Rocky and often muddy as well as exposed in places, Cut gate starts off on a  descending track takes you down an old roman stone path typical of the area and down steep rock steps that are technical in places.

Stanage

  • This is a rocky route.  Expect Gritstone flag stones, slabs & small boulders, peaty mud and grass. The Stanage steps are renowned and quite technical.

Jacob's Ladder

  • The Jacob's ladder descent is a long, fast track that is rock laden.

Eyam & Bakewell

  • Terrain ranges from rocks, grass, gravel, mud and tarmac.

Useful sites and Guides

  • Flatttyres MTB offer guiding, skills coaching and has a rich source of trail guides with detailed descriptions and downloadable GPS tracks.
  • MonkeySpoon
  • Pegasus MTB coach in this area and the surrounding region.

Trails for all skills in mtb.

One of the best natural trails to go mountainbiking.but always remember some of these trails are shared with hikers and horses.respect is a must

What do you like?

Very wide area and diff trails for all levels in MTB.every year there is always a MTB ride organized by different groups.some of the rides here are brutal .

What could be improved?

The only bad points i can think of is the meddling of the councils destroying the natural trails. I just hope they stop.

Great fun!

Great place near centre of Sheffield but feels like you're miles away!

What do you like?

Brilliant track which my 2 boys (aged 7 and 10) really enjoyed! They loved the rocky sections and berms! They had fun on the race off pump track. Well maitained track. Dry day but no apparent muddy sections.

What could be improved?

No parking! Squeezed into a small entranceway. No other facilities on site.

Awesome experience

Go check this trail center...

What do you like?

An amazing experience.
Ponte de Lima is a village that has much to offer to nature sports lovers, in particular to lovers of mountain biking ...

The Black Foot MTB association has been creating tracks with excellent quality and it seems that will not stop here ...

Starting in one of the highest points of the village territory of Ponte de Lima, going down and riding fantastic tracks and they're passable all year long.

The best part is that for who love's to pedal, the end can always be along the river, where in summer you can take a swimm and enjoy the good local food.

A curiosity is that, they can lead us to the Bikepark Ponte de Lima, that exists in this same village.

It is an ideal spot for those who want to train especially Enduro / Am Donhill but also in quality leads, or just for someone , or even for those who just want to enjoy a good day to ride a bike ...

So if you want to get to know Ponte de Lima and its potential for mountainbike are these people who are looking for ...

What could be improved?

Lifts are a bit long, but nothing that is not justified when it rises to the bike ...

Great for an hours blast on an evening. Nice to have different line choices. Even the climb back up is fun...the first few times.

What do you like?

Wicked fun for a quick blast Good place to practice berms, tables & jumps

What could be improved?

Parking is not always easy Can be dodgy types around... Too short even though we are lucky to have it
