Description

Howgills is on the border between the North Yorkshire Dales and the South Lakes in the North of England. The riding is on natural singletrack and there is a remote yet epic feel to it. The climbs are steep, the views ace and there is lots of singletrack which is both flowing, rocky, and fast. This is quite a seasonal trail i.e. it can get quite muddy.

The Howgills

Set off from the town of Sedburgh (lots of cafes etc here) and followed the well published route up onto the Howgills and then down Bowderdale. Its a great ride but one for the good weather as its very exposed in places and no opportunity for help if you get into trouble.

What do you like?

Fantastic scenery Great riding No crowds Possibly longest section of singletrack I've ever ridden

What could be improved?

A ride for good weather only

Would you recommend?

*Yes*
