Rocky and rooty nightmare

I visited here in Aug 16. My first impressions were how good the carparking was and it is in a real nice scenic location. But the red trail is the worst surface that Ive ever came across. I found the climbs and flat sections impassable in SPDs because the very large rocks and roots in the trail stopped any momentum or flow. I wasn't enjoying this at all. Some of the junctions are badly sign posted and I ended up going past two of them, then theres no indication you're off-route and you could end up going for miles along the fire roads. All this for 10 minutes of ok downhill. To be honest I had more fun on sections where it joined onto the blue route and in a bizarre way I was relieved when I made it back to the carpark, "thank God thats over". Technically difficult doesnt always equal fun, especially when its so technically difficult you're hardly getting anywhere.

What do you like?

Real nice scenery and a big carpark.

What could be improved?

The red trail surface is absolute terrible. With large rocks, boulders and roots on the climbs and flats.

Would you recommend?

*No*
