Box Woods

  • Box Woods is an old quarry with paths around the perimeter of the wood that gives you the chance to check out the area and orientate yourself. Whilst circling you will see a handful of short unsanctioned unofficial downhill runs that crisscross each other. You will find bomb holes, steep dips, tabletops, doubles, and drops. Good for sessions and killing a couple of hours

Corsham BMX Track

    • There is very close by Corsham BMX track which is council-built and run

Box quarry hill review

So much fun, I am a beginner hardtail rider and found that in these woods, it's really fun to just follow your nose, have fun and see where it takes you you can't really go wrong. Not much skill needed for a Lot of fun!

What do you like?

Great paths to just follow your guts and take the jumps as they come.

What could be improved?

A bit boring if your expirienced, the jumps and paths are not very varied

Would you recommend?

yes

Small playground

This is just an old quarry really, but over the years many generations of local riders have spent their youths here building up small little trails, jumps and routes through bombholes. It's definitely on the cheeky side, even with the bridleways running through the centre, though as long as you're sensible you're unlikely to be stopped by the landowner. Having grown up here and recently revisited not much seems to have changed really - spend a couple of hours here and you'll have seen everything there is, but you might not have perfected all the lines. Best visited with a couple of mates as there's lines you'll want to hit again and again and encourage each other to go faster and higher. The Quarryman's Arms just down the road is well worth a visit - careful of the scrumpy served off a barrel on the bar if driving!

What do you like?

Hardly ever crowded! Good opportunities for building up skills in jumps and small drops

What could be improved?

Be wary of horse riders and ramblers It's probably more of a "locals" joint, rather than anything worth advertising as worth of a detour.

Would you recommend?

*No*
