Description

Bedgebury Forest Mountain Bike Trails are on the Kent, Sussex border. There are 12km of singletrack, graded red and a 9km family blue trail.

Like this?

Red (with black options) Trail

  • The 12km red trail has twisty turns with short ups and downs. It is in a rooty environment with berms, rollers and drops dotted along the way. It is split into a multitude of sections e.g. deliverance, cardiac, five ways, magic carpet and so on.
  • It has an optional red/black section. This section starts with a rock garden roll then has several small kickers and drops.

Family Trail - Blue

  • This trail is suitable for all abilities and follows 9km of family cycle track on shared use forest road around the 2000 acre Bedgebury Forest.

Cycling Clubs and Groups

  • There is an active club structure from Boars on Bikes  who organise rides and trail building and there is a Go Ride British Cycling club for young riders.

Great if your local, but wouldn’t make a special trip.

Stunning forest scenery as you follow the trails but in terms of the MTB track it’s self, I’d say its a great place to ride if your local but I wouldn’t make a special trip for it.

Decent trails for general fitness as there is a lot of flat and uphill riding with some interesting features along the way like the rock gardens.

The downhill sections have potential but currently are sketchy, berms are all made of very loose gravel and you will find your self sliding if you’re carrying any speed which isn’t great for trying to build confidence. A lot of them don’t flow nicely.

No jumps but a couple of pump sections.

The black run is very short and not really a black, and the reds in any other MTB park would be a green.

The car park is very expensive, fine if your spending the whole day here but if you want to do a lap of the red trail and head off (which would prob take 1 and a half hours all in) that’s going to cost 8quid!

IT HAS SO MUCH POTENTIAL! Needs a talented trail builder, lots of volunteers and some investment and this could be the best place to ride in Kent but at the moment it’s slightly disappointing.

What do you like?

The forest and nature makes this place pretty special.

What could be improved?

Trail flow, surface grading, fix the berms, some more advanced trails, parkings costs.

Would you recommend?

yes

Don't go

Not really a mtb place just a few flat single track through a wood. At any bike park it would be a green as nothing like a red.

What do you like?

Only 9 miles so can leave quickly

What could be improved?

Nothing there a 5 yr old couldn't ride. It's a shame they don't put a real mtb trail in

Would you recommend?

no

Bedgebury

Nice training loop, good in all weather unlike most of Kent's trails

What do you like?

Good in the wet, a good loop with some fun sections. Has a few really fun sections

What could be improved?

Trails are a little tame, the black section is really a red (and super short) and the red route is really a blue with some red features thrown in, More technical features needed/ more "black" sections. The cost of parking is frankly insane when other trail centres are 1/3 of the cost and offer much more

Would you recommend?

yes

Brilliant !

Will definitely be heading back there soon

What do you like?

I never review purchases or places I visit, but this was so enjoyable I must. The MTB tracks are absolutely brilliant they're all well laid out and as you reach the end of one you cross the gravel road and go straight into another, minimal travelling between them. The Red routes are doable for any ability I would say as you can roll over all obstacles or avoid the technical parts if needed. The high speed burms and selection of table tops are really good too. I only found 1 Black route and that did command a higher skill level obviously, but you can still roll it if need be depending on the size of chain ring. Bike shop also really good, small selection of pro level bikes for sale. Nice selection of accessories aswell

What could be improved?

This isn't really a bad point, but I'd like to see more Black routes open up in the future just so there something to progress onto once you're hitting perfect runs everywhere else

Would you recommend?

*Yes*
