Description

Tirpentwys Trails can be found in Pontypool in South Wales. They consist of 6 hand-carved tracks which are steep with swooping berms, jumps, and drop-offs.  The trails are called: Bob Gnarly, Bob More Gnarly, Grannies Fanny, Do-Able, Dasher, and Gnarliness. This is a volunteer-managed bike park. The trails are unofficial.

Like this?

The Tirpentwys MTB trails are unofficial wild trails and feature steep swooping berms, jumps, drop-offs, and a session area to hone your skills.

Bob More Gnarly - Black

  • Bob More Gnarly has a natural feel for a downhill run and features lots of roots and off-camber sections. This trail has drop-offs up to 5ft in height and steep natural sections.

Do-Able - Black+

  • Do-Able is a natural, very rooty, steep-tech trail with natural features and technical drops.

Dasher - Black

  • Dasher is a natural steep-tech downhill run with lots of roots, tight turns, and plenty of slop.

Gnarlyness- Black

  • Gnarlyness is gnarly and features a large drop at the start of the trail (as a qualifier). It features steep swooping berms, tight wooded sections step on/offs, and gap jumps.

Bob Gnarly -Red/Black

  • Bob Gnarly features big berms with senders into steep chutes. The trail progresses into a series of tabletops and jumps through the woods.

Grannies Fanny - Red

  • Grannies Fanny is a good introduction to the trails. The trail is all rollable and features large steep swooping berms, chutes, and jumps towards the bottom of the trail.

Other Stuff

  • The trails are maintained by a crew of dedicated trail builders determined to continue the work and legacy of fellow builder and founder Ryan Bullimore #RideforRyan

Simply awesome!

Easy to access trails from public parking. Great options for DH from flowy red to techy black, all in such a small area. Well done!

What do you like?

Variety, ease of access and speed of laps, great jumps and berms.

What could be improved?

Techy black trails step up the grade quickly, so a little limited for intermediate riders.

Would you recommend?

yes

Best Local

The only trails I’ve been to that have a real community vibe, you can tell the local riders and trail builders have a passion for what they do

What do you like?

Great location, trails and people

What could be improved?

Push-up to the top is pretty brutal, not exactly a bad thing though

Would you recommend?

yes

Tirpentwys is best

Really good looked after trails that are mantained by a dedicated crew

The atmosphere is insane, everyone's so supportive and will encourage people regardless of skill level

What could be improved?

Doesn't have any facilities like a shop or bike rentals but there is a hut for shelter
