Description

Tirpentwys Trails can be found in Pontypool in South Wales. They consist of 6 hand-carved tracks which are steep with swooping berms, jumps, and drop-offs.  The trails are called: Bob Gnarly, Bob More Gnarly, Grannies Fanny, Do-Able, Dasher, and Gnarliness. This is a volunteer-managed bike park. The trails are unofficial.

Like this?

The Tirpentwys MTB trails are unofficial wild trails and feature steep swooping berms, jumps, drop-offs, and a session area to hone your skills.

Bob More Gnarly - Black

  • Bob More Gnarly has a natural feel for a downhill run and features lots of roots and off-camber sections. This trail has drop-offs up to 5ft in height and steep natural sections.

Do-Able - Black+

  • Do-Able is a natural, very rooty, steep-tech trail with natural features and technical drops.

Dasher - Black

  • Dasher is a natural steep-tech downhill run with lots of roots, tight turns, and plenty of slop.

Gnarlyness- Black

  • Gnarlyness is gnarly and features a large drop at the start of the trail (as a qualifier). It features steep swooping berms, tight wooded sections step on/offs, and gap jumps.

Bob Gnarly -Red/Black

  • Bob Gnarly features big berms with senders into steep chutes. The trail progresses into a series of tabletops and jumps through the woods.

Grannies Fanny - Red

  • Grannies Fanny is a good introduction to the trails. The trail is all rollable and features large steep swooping berms, chutes, and jumps towards the bottom of the trail.

Other Stuff

  • The trails are maintained by a crew of dedicated trail builders determined to continue the work and legacy of fellow builder and founder Ryan Bullimore #RideforRyan

The best free bike park in Britain

An incredible legacy that continues to thrive through the collaborative efforts of the local trail crew. Everything from steep and techy to swooping and flowing berms with a fantastic bike park section and jump line at the bottom of the hill. Always a creative welcoming vibe in a beautiful part of the world.

What do you like?

Trail variety, build quality and vibe. Bike park section is a real plus to help develop your core skills.

What could be improved?

Steep climb (aren’t they all)

Friendly vibes in an idyllic location

What could be improved?

Would massively benefit from a visitor centre/hub. Which I know the trail crew are applying for.
