We did the Syfydrin trail the day after a weather front moved through. It had mostly dried out the next morning when we rode, so no complaints there. Not sure about grading it black though. I imagine the wilderness aspect may be responsible for the grading but the features as such are red all the way in my opinion.
Be prepared for the worst on this trail, because you will be on your own and out of reach of a convenient Bike Shop. We had no issues ourselves, but can imagine how life could get difficult very quickly out there. Lovely trail with varied terrain and plenty to keep you occupied. Amazing views on a good day like we had. The Summit trail is good fun. Make it all the way up Leg Burner in one go for a real feeling of achievement!!!
The trail center is a fine one with a top notch cafe, bike wash and helpful, friendly staff. If only they had a Bike Shop! Then there's the Red Kites! Wow is all I can say.
What do you like?
Great cafe
Wilderness feeling on Syfydrin Trail
The climbs - yes really.
Red Kites
Great trail centre with good facilities, only ever done the Syfydrin Trail which is a real 'out there' trail and includes some back roads and tracks but also utilises all the singletrack within the forest.
Its a proper ride with big climbs and descents but stunning views if the weathers ok.
There is a lot of riding to be done here and this ranks as one of my fave trails as it has a real natural feel with all the good aspects of a modern trail centre, without the crowds.
Make sure you are prepared if you are taking on the Syfydrin Trail as parts are very remote and if you have an issue its a very long way back to any sort of help, which actually adds to its charm I think.
What do you like?
Great Facilities, doesn't get as busy as other welsh trail centres
What could be improved?
non really, apart from no Bike Shop so go prepared.
I haven't managed to ride all the trails here, but the two that I have have been great, good fun single track descents. Aprt from the one fire road climb there's nothing too strenuous.
What do you like?
Single track decents! I've ridden here a few times and it never seems to be busy.
What could be improved?
Fire road climb from the bottom. No Bike Shop at centre, Aber would be nearest if you have issues.
Today was the second time I have been to Nant yr Arian (first time a pedal came off part way round) but again I wasn't dissapointed although the weather wasn't playing ball it got very wet very quickly but it didn't stop me having a great day nailing the summit trail. There is a killer climb in the middle of the run called the leg burner so beware if you don't like long climbs. High light of the day for me comes right at the end in the high as a kite run but careful you don't miss it. It's a very fast flowy section through the forest that takes you back to the visitor center all in all the best bit to get your shred on. If you haven't been to Nant yr Arian it is well worth a visit to a beautiful part of the country. And look out for the red kites they have done a lot of work there to encourage these birds and they are great to see up there.
What do you like?
Not too busy well not midweek anyway
Good cafe
Fast flowy trails
Good mix of terrain
Rode this trail several months ago and it stands out as one of the best trail centres I have ridden in Wales. If you like your riding, fast, flowy and remote, then this is for you! Be warned, the climb in the middle is a killer
We did the Summit trail, then added the Pendam Tralil on by coming off the summit about two thirds of the way round, its a great extension and worth it.
If you are in North\Mid Wales, check it out. You wont be disappointed!
