Perhaps we had the luxury of amazing weather but this was the best day of mountain biking i have ever done. Unfortunately I live 4 hours drive away so it can't exactly be a regular destination. We did the summit trail and the whole lot was awesome (perhaps with the exception of the leg-burner ;))
Next time gonna do the syfydrin because we caught a glimpse of the scenery on offer - just need to make sure the weather is as good!
Started planning my next ride here already.
What do you like?
- Remote, rugged, backcountry feel
- excellent quality trails
- all-weather
- great visitor centre
- red kites!
What could be improved?
- Unless you live in Aberystwyth, it'll take you a long time to get there
- no Bike Shop so bring your own spares etc.
- I live 215 miles away...
Amazing trails with naturally occuring obstacles such as rock climbs made of slate found in the ground. Also the scenery makes it perfect for more casual riders with places to stop and take some pretty pictures, further to this none of the trails are particularly challenging allowing people of all abilities to ride them. One note that should be taken is that there is a very long (category 3) climb towards the end of the trails called legburner, which I wouldn't approach without a fair level of fitness, along with with other hills to get up, but what would you expect its Wales and on mountains ?
What do you like?
Well kept trails, and clearly distinguished routes to follow. Also the visitor centre has an extremely nice café with bike washing facilities also, for those that like to keep their bike clean.
What could be improved?
Nothing comes to mind, other than the fact it can get quite busy because of its popularity!
