Description

The Oneplanet Adventure, Coed Llandegla Mountain Biking Centre Trails are near Wrexham in North Wales. It has four MTB trails covering green, blue, red, and black gradings. There are also off-piste options like Natural Selection. The center including the cafe, bike shop and hire is managed by Oneplanet Adventure.

Like this?

It also has a Skills Area, Bike Park, Dual Slalom run, and a Pump Track.

Red: 18km

  • The Red 18km trail shares the same climb through the forest with the blue trail. When it splits off at the top of the forest, the longer red route sends you on a series of more technical challenges, with singletrack, steep sections, bermed switchbacks, water crossings, tabletops, and boardwalk.

Black: 21km

  • There are a series of black runs (6km) that are accessible only from the Intermediate Route. Together, the red and black routes comprise 21km of trail. The black runs are steeper downhill stretches and they have much more challenging technical features like large steps, gaps, and drop-offs

Natural Selection - Off-Piste

  • Launched in April 2023 these are 4 technical natural feel (black graded) off-piste track options. Expect:
    - Narrow hand-cut singletrack trail
    - Exposed off-camber roots
    - Exposed bedrock and rock features
    - Tight steep corners
    - Natural, slippy surface
    - Steep shoots into narrow corners
    - Large drops (Inc the wallride at the end)

Blue 12km

  • The Blue is still 12km in length, and there is a gradual climb up through the forest until it splits with the Red, Route at the top of the forest. It is largely gradual downhill, interspersed with gentle uphill sections. This route also has a selection of small humps and other features to add a degree of challenge!

Green: 5km

  • A waymarked route of approximately 5km has been developed specifically with families in mind. The route avoids major climbs and technical sections and concentrates on allowing families to experience off-road cycling in a fun and safe way. The surfaces encountered on this route are mainly hard-packed but there are sections that are loose, uneven, or muddy at times. The route allows riders to ascend gently from the car park, through the forest, and onto the reservoir, with its views of the Clwydian Range. After cycling around the reservoir, the route meanders back through the forest before the final descent which sweeps down to the Visitor Centre.

Skills Area, Free Ride Area, Pump Track

  • Status update Dec 2025: The Skills Area, Pump Track and Freeride Zone at Coed Llandegla are currently closed following forestry harvesting near the visitor centre. The closure forms part of a planned rebuild, with the centre stating: “We’ve dreamed for a long time of creating a brand-new, next-level Skills Zone. The recent harvesting has made this possible, and we’re grabbing the opportunity with both hands.” Plans for the new Skills Zone include
    • a dedicated “Little Rippers” area
    • a coaching zone
    • new berms and drop-offs
    • new jump lines for a range of rider abilities

Dual Slalom

  • The dual Slalom has berms, jumps and bumps on near-identical tracks.

My regular night riding haunt. Expect a big climb to start then choices of blue, red or black graded trails. A fair bit of variety and a good workout. Surface is well constructed and can be ridden in pretty much any weather but be prepared as its very exposed at the top of the climbs in bad weather. The grading system is probably aimed slightly low compared to some of the other welsh MTB trails i.e. the blacks are more hard red than true blacks, but still good fun. Good pump track and freeride area for the energetic ones.

Not bad beginner course mostly flat wide smooth trial and jumpy, so if you like jumping this is a trial you will like. One very good section which is classed as black but really I would class it as bordering black closer red(first black section), but love it all the same. The rest of the trial is so so. Very Good practice/skills facilities. I like/use Llandegla for fitness training mostly.

What do you like?

Great fast jumpy black sections. Long if you complete all so very good for fitness training. No fire road riding.

What could be improved?

1. Feels all artificial and calculated and an easy smooth wide ride (I like the natural less predictable trials). 2. not looked after like other trials. Section after northshore had area half of the width trial falling away to the edges and quite dangerous considering the speed you fly down there, poo'd myself as a came around the corner and the trial wasn't there and looking at the cliff drop at the side, do not know how I kept it on. 3. The people who use it. Alot of incidents with other bikers, not aware of other trial users. One incident with a bloke took his 2 kids on the black section with the jumps way too big for their very small bikes, all 3 stood on the top of a jump and 1 kid getting off his bike in the middle of the jump, I was already airborne before seeing him and just missed by millimeters.

Coed Llandegla

Well, this has to be my favourite all round trail centre! Coed Llandegla has everything you need for a day out on the bikes, everything from green routes through to black routes and even Orange sections of trail for riders who like to be airbourne! The red route seems be always built and improved on, super flowy trails with berms, jumps, drops and rock slabs. The trail does involve a fair bit of climbing, however, this is always rewarded with another grin inducing descent. Long enough for a good workout but not too long like other trail centres who pad routes out with long fire road sections. The black routes and sections are challenging yet can still be ridden slowly for those who have taken a wrong turn. Very flowy single track and tight bermed corners have most riders (with a soul) whooping with delight as they zoom along the trail. Excellent to ride again and again. The fantastic skills area is ideal for learning everything from small to large drop offs, cornering technique, switchbacks and of course jumps on the three lane rhythm sections. There is also a pump track next to the top car park which has multiple line to try out and next to that the Orange graded Free-ride track with larger jumps and drops to really test out your bike kung fu! The One Planet café serves some delicious food and you'll be glad to hear that they are big portions, exactly what you need after a long day on the trails! If you have not been to Llandegla then you need to go....tis weekend!

Degla

Some great in fact superb practice areas where I think is good to get the bike set up ready to do the trails. Well where do I start OMG! this is one fantastic beast of a trail, plenty of uphills but the downs are worth it, you get speed air and there are lots of technical bits to keep you entertained, there are scary moments but so worth it, you need to take spare inner tubes etc as these are demanding and unforgiving trails, once you have done these you can grab some top nosh from the cafe too!

What do you like?

Trails are testing, great food, jet wash. bike storage while your in the cafe. you have to visit if you are a keen biker!

What could be improved?

£4 parking, (ok if it all goes to trails) and the Bike Shop is for the "well off" and don't seem to cater for all, we must remember though this is privately owned land and not public :-)
