Description

Glencoe Mountain Resort is more than just a great MTB centre, it is as the name suggests an all-encompassing outdoor resort. There are a mix of mountain bike trails for every ability of rider. It is located in the Highlands in Scotland.

Like this?

A combination of amazing views, mountain bike uplift and world class mountain bike trails make for a great Scottish mountain bike experience. It offers Downhill and XC / enduro mountain biking (with chair lift access) in the summer alongside a whole host of other outdoor pursuits like archery orienteering, hill-walking, climbing, and guided walks. It also has a cafe, bike hire, and accommodation facilities. Then in the winter, the same resort facilities flip the seasonal coin over to offer skiing, snowboarding, and sledding.

Downhill

  • The access road is available to ride down for those mainly looking for views, a warm up or to test out their bike prior to hitting the trails.

Red Downhill

  • The red downhill trail has seen continued investment in recent years. As of June 2025, a brand-new bottom section has opened to improve flow and rider experience from top to bottom. The trail offers over 3km of descent with more than 300m+ vertical drop, combining fast flowy berms with technical rock gardens. All features remain rollable, making it suitable for intermediate riders with good control.

Black Downhill

  • Originally built in 2006 For the Scottish Downhill association, it snakes its way down Meall a' Bhuiridh hillside alongside a stunning waterfall. This track has a dedicated drop in and is designed for experienced downhill riders with technical terrain from top to bottom. You will encounter rock gardens, drops, exposed rock faces and jumps. This 1.2km long, 300m vertical descent is regarded as one of the toughest tracks in the UK.

XC / Enduro Trails

  • Once at the top of our chairlift, you can use the access road to take a pedal to the cross country routes.

Nae Danger - (Blue)

  • Nae Danger is a perfect warm up to your riding experience at Glencoe. Starting from the top of the chairlift pedal your way up the land rover track towards our scenic Plateau Cafe (closed in summer). Ride your way over a mix of beautiful Scottish single track towards Craig Dhubh to then loop back towards the land rover track to finish this incredible 1.5km circuit.

Epic Glades Red

  • Slightly further up the mountain lies our red cross country trail Epic Glades. This leg burner provides guaranteed fun. You are first tested to climb up past the Plateau Cafe (closed in summer) up past our new Rannoch chair. The road then ends and the track begins; a steep climb gets you to the top of Cliffhanger chairlift before levelling out as you go past the base of the top lifts, the ski patrol shed and the top of the wall T bar. Catch your breath on one of the most scenic parts of our resort before dropping into a veritable feast of thoroughbred red descent. Loose rocks, drops, catchy berm corners and stunning singletrack. Follow the signs to get to the start of the descent. The track then follows the ridgeline with views out to Glen Etive and Buachaille Etive Mor before dropping back down and joining the blue cross country, then re-joining the access road.

Loop de Dhubh (Black)

  • Continues on where Epic Glades leaves off; riding along the ridgeline until you loosely reach the summit of Creag Dhubh, where it’s worth stopping to take in the views. Then a short, steep, rocky section with several drops takes you back to the walkers track and back to the access road. Do look out for walkers.

Other Stuff

  • Lift access is via the Access Chair - a 2 person chairlift that you hook your bike onto via the seatpost. The chairlift is open daily from 9am to 4pm for bike uplift, and takes about 15 minutes to bring you from 1200 feet at the car park to 2200 feet at the top of the chair. If you are unsure of how to load your bike, ask any of our staff to talk you through it; the lift can also be slowed down to assist you. All participants must be able to lift their bike to approximately shoulder height. The minimum age for lift-accessed mountain biking is 10yrs, and children under 16yrs must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Google map of cross country routes
  • There are 80 miles of pretty spectacular road cycling around past Ballachullish, Glen Etive, and Tyndrum.
  • There is a campsite at Glencoe with micro lodges, camper/caravan hook-up points, camping plots, showers, drying rooms, and an onsite café with a fully licensed bar.

Black DH

Its the craziest downhill in the country, stay away unless your in the top 2% lol I had to walk some of it. They now have a red downhill, I might go back and try that, and see if I can man up to the black top to bottom!

What do you like?

Its insane, its stupidly steep and rocky. The views are immense :)

What could be improved?

Its insane, its stupidly steep and rocky and if you fall you will hurt yourself, did I say its stupidly steep and rocky?
