There is one waymarked and a large network of unofficial MTB trails in the area covering cross-country, enduro, and downhill riding. The Planned Trails
- The new center was going to be located on the western edge of the beautiful Durris Forest but challenges in the topography and incremental cost that would have driven has resulted in them announcing in early 2023 that a new location will need to be found.
- The approximate £14 million community-based project could deliver an estimated network of 35km+ of all-weather multi-grade trails meeting the needs of all riders, from beginners to elite.
- The vision includes facilities such as a café, meeting space, car parking, bike wash, bike shop & bike hire, and will provide a hub to increase participation in cycling, improve health and access to the outdoors and deliver social benefits to Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
- The trail network plans include cross-country singletrack, downhill runs, flow trails, natural enduro trails, and a pump track.
- A new outdoor snow sports centre is included in the group’s concept designs. If plans go ahead, it is thought to be the first mountain bike project in Scotland to feature dry slope skiing and snowboarding facilities.
