Love this place

Very realistic singletrack instead of the manufactured trails you find elsewhere. Very technical and twisty.

What do you like?

Good realistic singletrack. Excellent friendly bike shop. Very attractive castle. Free parking in winter.

What could be improved?

Watch out for the slippy tree roots!! Have to pay for parking in the summer.

Night+Wet+Mud=Fun

Went Night biking with my son aged 8. We did the blue, it was wet and muddy and he loved it. On The final return up the drive we switched our lights of completely which was fun but

What do you like?

Love how the blue and red shadow each other. Well waymarked Could roll down the newer section all day...great flow Mud

What could be improved?

Missing a skills area and or pump track to complete the Place. Mud

Unique feel to this place

A great croute which adds variety to the UK mtb scene

What do you like?

Really nice red route mostly through deciduous forest, which feels different from most trail centres i've visited i.e. Feels very 'natural'. As mentioned, it is very rooty indeed. Not especially difficult terrain, technically speaking (but tiring). However I rode in the dry but can imagine wet conditions to be challenging. The castle surroundings add to the experience, and Rik from the eponymous bike shop was very informative and friendly.

What could be improved?

Sometimes the forest route feels like you are riding in circles, but no big deal. I challenge any non-local to keep their bearings on this ride! If you drive to castle car park you must pay £6, but shouldnt grumble about that.

Day out for all

Had a fantastic family day out while on holiday. Rode a mix of all the greens on a tag along with the 5 yr old (20km) and she loved it. Good variety of trails & amazing scenery. Rik of Riks bike shop was brilliant at getting the bike sorted and a route plus makes a mean coffee after :). I rode the red & black and loved it. Totally different to most smooth manicured trails this was a tight, root fest that kept you alert. The black sections were intense in places with skinny trails to navigate and off camber rooty tight berms into drops...few descent climbs to dig into and the last sections of the red before the black peeled off again were good. Kids had a ball in the play park & gardens. The marked walks were good too and we had a great long day out.

What do you like?

Good mix of trails, great bike shop, fantastic facilities & intense black sections. Good place to master wet rooty sections of trail

What could be improved?

Had to walk the fairy trail with daughter...

roots

if you like riding roots then you will enjoy drumlanrig. we arrived down an impressive entrance to be greeted by drumlanrig castle. very impressive looking building and would have enjoyed a look around it if it wasnt for the trail here. we paid the very expensive admission fee (£6 per person) for entry to the grounds and facilities, there are free showers and bike wash included in that but still seems a little steep. once we had kitted up we headed out to follow the red route (old school) and was impressed from the start, the trails here are thin and natural, not man built like you would get at glentress for example. after a short fire road through beautiful grounds we reached the first singletrack section, a fun sweepy run over roots, not to challenging and a nice intro to the trails. after a little more fire road we hit another rooty section and realised that there was certainly a recurring theme here! the further you went the more technical and fun it got and the bigger the smiles got. we shortly arrived at the bail out option which we took as low on time (6 hour drive home ahead of us) the bail out carries on with the fun and then links up with some fun black route to the finish with a large (avoidable) drop off in front of the castle. i will definitely be coming back here to ride the full red route.

What do you like?

technical and rooty black route options fun and fast well looked after castle and beautiful grounds

What could be improved?

roots might be slightly challenging for newer/less experienced riders. £6 entry per person is steep but can kinda see why.
