Outdated and poorly maintained

Really needs some maintenance, had the potential to be a good spot but the trails are dull.

What do you like?

Runway is kind of fun

What could be improved?

Trails not maintained. Usually quite loose and full of flat corners.

Would you recommend?

no

Carron Valley red route

a good little red route. the trail is split into 3 sections so that you can easily redo the section you have just done. the climb is nothing to challenging and reached the top of eas dubh without to much effort. the descent was good, few rocks jumps and berms. nothing to tricky, the same goes for the second section the cannonball run. this was a bit faster but felt the berms needed to be built up a bit more to really make the most of the speed. the final descent is the runway which makes the whole trip here worth it. you can go as big as you want over the features. all are rollable or set up nicely to get air. very well made trail. easily worth a ride back up to do it again.

What do you like?

trail is in 3 loops so you can session parts easily last descent is alot of fun trails seem well maintained

What could be improved?

could do with bigger berms in areas no facilities other than a car park

Would you recommend?

*Yes*

All weather all fun @ CV

I've had some great fun here & would recommend for fun & fitness.

What do you like?

This trail is just fun & great for fitness. Trail is in great condition & is all weather & all year round use. The runway is cracking fun & will definitely out a smile on your face. Some great berms & switchbacks to keep you thinking quickly, great 1-2 hours if fun, also a great place to learn.

What could be improved?

Lack of facilities in terms of changing & parking can fill up quickly too.

Would you recommend?

*Yes*

Fast & Fun

Despite being smaller and less used than 7stanes sites, a good number of serious bikers go there and a high standard has been set on Strava over the years and a lot of speed can be achieved if that appeals to you (like me). But there isn't really much to do generally - if you go there a few times it becomes very familiar very quickly. Not worth travelling more than an hour to and not at all with a young family. Good place to take some older children or adult beginners though all the same.

What do you like?

Well built trails that mostly drain well; good for beginners as most technical sections can be easily bypassed; the runway is an excellent fast and fun segment with numerous big features that can be taken at speed and provide a challenge. Not as well used as 7stanes sites and therefore in better condition and less busy. Closer to Glasgow than 7stanes. The whole circuit is a good ride to do in a one-er (and repeat until tired) but it is easy to shortcut and do just the runway, or runway and cannonball run, missing out the top Eas Dubh section. It is possible to climb all the way up on forest road if you wish to avoid the trail climb section.

What could be improved?

The red routes are not particularly difficult and lack any very rough, steep or challenging features; the upper part of the climb to the top is on forest road only; there is no skills park and no green route for beginners/kids/families/general mucking about; the car park can be very busy with walkers, fishers etc; there is no black route;

.

What do you like?

Good for beginners, training laps and 24/7 all weather riding. Cheap parking. Rides can be lengthened using the extensive fireroads, single track and walkers routes. (Meikle Bin is a fun descent). Mobile cafe often there at weekends which makes a visit even better.

What could be improved?

Dog walkers who don't clean up after their dogs (fireroads) and stray walkers on the bike trails.

Would you recommend?

*Yes*
