Ae Review

Great variety in trail difficulty, from nice smooth blues to welcome beginners to highly technical off-Piste trails for the more skilled rider. A great community behind the trails and a fantastic shop and cafe right at the base of the trails.

Ae MTB Trails

Always worth a visit. Friendly helpful staff in the shop and great food in the cafe.

What do you like?

Great variety of trails from beginner all the way to advanced downhill and natural. Super friendly staff and owners of the cafe and shop. Great night riding group during the winter and summer months. Mabie used to be my "home" trail when I stayed in Dumfries but moving out to the sticks and being nearer to Ae i started visiting Ae more regularly. The place is superb. It's got so much variety.

What could be improved?

None to be honest. Like most trails it could do with some TLC as it's been a while since it was all laid down. If I was being picky then a pump park / kids skill park area would really benefit the place.

Would you recommend?

*Yes*

Ae 7 Stanes

Always worth a visit.

What do you like?

Ae offers a great mixture of trails. The Ae Line red trail offers a decent mixture of single track with some great downhill sections along with decent climbs. The green and blue routes are very family friendly and are well used at the weekends. Also on offer are the downhill runs as well as many natural trails. National Cycle route 10 also goes through the heart of the forest and offers a longer more scenic ride. In addition there are routes which you can ride up the side of Queensberry the highest hill in D&G. On top of this the cafe is excellent and Callum in the bike shop offers a great service.

What could be improved?

As has been already mentioned the red has a few hard climbs so fitness is a must. The red trails are a bit washed out here and there but hopefully the worst bits will be looked at soon.

Would you recommend?

*Yes*
