Red Trail

A 27 km red-grade loop that climbs from Kilbroney Park onto Slievemartin, rewarding riders with wide-angle views across Carlingford Lough before dropping back through fast singletrack and forest descents. The route combines sustained climbs, natural rock sections and flowy berms with some optional technical features.

  • Distance: approx. 27 km
  • Grade: Red / Difficult
  • Features: Long climbs, flowing singletrack, elevated viewpoints
  • Official Red Trail Listing

Black Trail

This 19 km black-grade route follows part of the red ascent but splits onto steeper terrain with rocky technical sections and exposed features. It offers a serious endurance test and is best suited to experienced riders.

  • Distance: approx. 19 km
  • Grade: Black / Severe
  • Features: Technical singletrack, sharp gradients, expert-level features
  • Official Black Trail Listing

Downhill Trails

Rostrevor’s two purpose-built downhill lines start high above Kilbroney and run to the trailhead. Both are serviced by Bike Mourne uplift vans and feature built trail surfaces with berms, drops and jumps.

Mega Mission

Fast, flowing 1.7 km descent with big berms, tabletops and jump sections. Ideal for experienced riders seeking speed and progression.

On the Pulse

Shorter and steeper at 1.3 km with technical rock gardens, drops and line choice. Very challenging and rated for advanced riders only.

Facilities

The trailhead is within Kilbroney Park and includes a large car park, café, toilets, showers, picnic area and bike wash. Bike Mourne operates on-site hire, uplift, guiding and e-bike services. Nearby Rostrevor village provides accommodation, food and mechanical support.

Directions

From Belfast, follow the A2 south towards Warrenpoint and Rostrevor (approx. 1 hour). Enter Rostrevor village and turn onto Shore Road towards Kilbroney Park. From Newry, follow the A2 west for about 15 minutes. The trailhead car park is signposted inside Kilbroney Park, postcode BT34 3AA.

Rostrevor

As i said, good if you are in the area but I thought I had to put a more realistic review up, to be graded near 5 out of 5 against much much better trail centres is a bit of a joke. I have rode in Scotland more times this year than I have rode in Rostrever trails, and with Rossy being only a 50 minute drive from me should tell you all you need!

What do you like?

Its Local, good for a loop if you are in the area. It has a few fun parts towards the end. Nice Cafe & some showers etc being installed at the minute.

What could be improved?

Lots I am sorry to say. Straight out of the car park you have a real boring fire road climb, it would put a lot of people off the full loop, it is long and fairly steep and could have been avoided by putting an interesting singletrack climb. Most of the trail side is littered with stupid large rocks which when the grass grows around them are near impossible to see which makes even the smallest mistake a costly one. Far to many silly 'breaking?' bumps and badly placed rock gardens, just ruin any flow you can get. As for the DH trails, they just are not worth the push/pedal/uplift up, most local riders will stick to the older natural DH trails. Uplift service needs a lot of work on the trailers, the driver is a great guy and good craic but the trailers are badly made and bikes/forks etc get marked.
