Women's MTB: Bikes, clothes and shops

Brands are getting in on the growth of Women's mountain biking and we are beginning to see some better choices across bikes, kit choices, online stores, but less so physical bricks and mortar retailers.

Bike Brands

When it comes to the bike brands there is a few well worth pulling out:

Juliana Bicycles

Juliana is the sister brand of Santa Cruz. they have been at the forefront of women's specific mountain biking for a while. There bikes are built in collaboration with female racers. They have hardtails like the Nevis through to full suspension offers from the original and nimble 100mm travel Origin to the All Mountain 150mm Roubion travel bike (and everything imbetween).

Cube Women Like

Cube's Women Like range covers XC, Trail to All Mountain bikes.

Scott Contessa range

This range covers women's specific bikes, clothes and kit.

The Liv Range from Giant cycles is a new brnd dedicated to women's cycling. Liv is committed to the female cyclist. They offer apparel to premium bicycles. There are 5 MTB bikes in their range covering, cross country, enduro and downhill. They also have a range of women's clothes and kit.

Online Retailers and Clothing

Looking less at the bike manufacturers and their wide ranges we also got some recommendations for women's specific clothing brands and general online retailers.

Velo Vixen

These folk won female retailer of the year in 2015 so worth checking out.

At minx-girl.com you’ll find cool baggies, relaxed cropped pants and even flirty skirts that will transform how you feel about getting your legs out forever.

US company but ship worldwide. Here's what they say. Women are rad and there’s no reason why they can’t look good and feel good when they’re tearing up the single track. Furthermore, there's no reason why it shouldn't be possible to buy gear that can cross over into all the other sports that women love.

Look good. Feel good. Shred good.

To be honest most stores are still male dominated with limited women's ranges. Please share the exceptions.

Bella Velo

This is a store pitched as the UK's first women's only bike shop, opened in 2014 in Surbiton in Surrey.

Other brands also offer women's ranges we just picked out the ones recommended to us so far. If you know of a good source of women's bikes, clothes, kit or female friendly stores please post to the listing and we will add.
