Description
Smilog Trails (also known as Smaelog Trails or Smilog Woods) sit in Llantrisant Forest above the town of Llantrisant in Rhondda Cynon Taf, managed by Natural Resources Wales. The trails are built and maintained by the local riding community and are free to use. The network is a push-up downhill base with a mix of red-graded singletrack drops, technical features and steep woodland lines. Access is via fire road from the car park. Riding here is unsanctioned, and trails are ungraded officially.

The Trails
- The network has around six trails on Trailforks, all predominantly downhill. The highest-rated trail is Smilog The Dragon (red, 402m), a technical singletrack descent through the woodland. Pallet Land is the longest trail in the forest at 571m.
- Other popular lines include Switchbacks, which was rebuilt and revamped by the local riders, with berms and technical features added. Blueprint and Pinball are further local trail names for sections within the network.
- The trails are steep and technical in places. These are not beginner trails. Expect roots, drops and technical features throughout. Trails can be muddy in wet conditions β check recent check-ins before visiting.
- The forest is shared with walkers. Ride with consideration for other users.
Local Organisation
- The Smilog Trails Facebook group manages and maintains the trails in conjunction with local authorities. Follow them for trail news, dig days and updates. Use the hashtag #SmilogMTB for community content.
