Pump Track
- The track is an asphalt pump track and opened in 2021. It is built on the site of the former curling rink in a forest setting. There is a 226m Main Track and a 46m Kids Track.
- The construction was done by Velosolutions. It is free to ride and open to the public.
- Pump mountain bike tracks are progressive circuits that use an up and down βpumpingβ motion to propel the bicycle forward instead of pedalling.
- The track also has floodlights for evening riding.
- This project was one of the nine projects funded by the Cycling Facilities Fund and is part of a vision to engage people with Sports and Nature side by side. This broader fund has been made possible through a Β£4million commitment of capital funding from The Scottish Government and Β£4million of National Lottery funding from Sportscotland.
- This specific project cost Β£250,000. There was also support from a crowdfunder and businesses locally to help get the project over the line. Ride Scotland owner Nash Masson was a key driver in making the Woodland Wheels project a reality.
- The track is also a 20-minute drive away from Grantown on Spey, where the Anagach Woods Trails are.
Other Stuff
- The track is now fitted with the Velosolutions Vorld timing system. A QR code at the trackside lets riders download the Vorld app to time their laps and join local and global leaderboards.
- The track remains free to use. Ride Scotland covers the running costs and insurance through donations. If you'd like to support the project, you can donate here.
